I do, and have since I was quite young. It took me a long time to realize how abnormal NTs think this is too--like they think you are psychotic or schitzophrenic because of it. But it helps me go over things in my mind, so I still find myself doing it.

I think this is actually very common among Aspies and Auties. And the NT response to it is very troubling to me.

I do mumble to myself but doesn't everyone? Long as you're aware you're doing it, that's all that matters

I however i'm naturally monotone and speak quietly anyway, people think i'm mumbling even when i don't think i am :?

I work in IT and cannot solve problems or get through my day without narration. I'm constantly asked if I'm okay but my NT co-workers. They don't know I'm an Aspie though once I get my full paperwork in a few weeks I may tell my HR and bosses.

Yep. But it's only one of several things that make me look weird.

Yes. I often have a conversation either as part of getting to an understanding of a matter.
Les helpfully, I sometimes find myself talking quietly in a way where I am just going over again something from the past, to no constructive person.

I talk to myself at a very low volume almost constantly. I've noticed that some people get bothered by it because they think I'm complaining or talking negatively about them even though I never am.

I used to whisper to myself when I was alone, but then I became paranoid about being watched so I trained myself to stop doing it. Now I just have silent conversations with myself in my head. I've seen my NT sister doing it though.

I have to try very hard not to start talking to myself when I'm stressed as it's not something I can easily stop. I used to talk to myself constantly whenever I was alone, sometimes 12 hours a day and it was exhausting.

Oh yes, I do. But I do my best to do it in private.

Yes, I do this a lot and sometimes get caught which I find embarrassing... But seriously, is talking to yourself really that weird? How do NTs really see that?
