Oftentimes I just dissociate the depictions of gore in movies from any feelings and don't find it offensive, unless it is intentionally sadistic (like the "Saw" movies - I've watched a bit, but it's very hard to take). But if it is a child or helpless person or animal, it brings up very strong emotional empathy and feelings of distress and I can't stand to watch it for one second. In fact if I witness simple injury, like a person jumping somewhere unsafe (like a cliff or a cave entrance) I actually feel pain in my body from my reaction - usually in my back. :skull: Seeing a helpless person being pulled out to sea on a tide is awful. However seeing an angry, violent person hurt, even in a gory way, doesn't arouse the empathy and feelings of horror because I don't relate to angry, violent people. To me these are all just feeling reactions related to psychological associations and are apart from morals, as I tend to be quite protective of people and animals in actual life (have broken up fistfights, been injured a number of times rescuing animals, etc.). Like many autistics my cognitive empathy is relatively weak whereas my emotional empathy is unusually strong.

Gory stuff gets to me. I'm never going to watch torture porn like Saw. Realistic violence and injuries make me squirm.

I like light hearted comedy the most.

Its kind of filthy looking, like dirty. I feel like it would be like swimming in a pool full of mud or macaroni. Obviously certain injuries look really fake and stuff, especially on movies, so I'm not disturbed at all. Other times though, it can be disturbing, depending on severity. An arrow through the eye is very disturbing to me, but someone's organs spilling out in an unrealistic fashion just looks cheesy.

A lot of it is just really pointless.
There's no reason to it, and it's overdone.

I really do not think 'all' and 'autistics' should be in the same sentence.

I watch gory films sometimes, I do get a little disgusted. I even wince when somebody stabs someone.

It's rather spooky, though, that I watched Saw last night for the first time, then this thread pops up here...

I usually don't feel anything but entertained when watching gore. Some is even laugh out loud funny to me, like the arm that fell down on Ellie's shoulder in Jurassic Park, or the guy that was interrupted in the bathroom in the same movie. The gory parts as well as how it happened made me laugh when watching the Final Destination movies.
It would have to be something really special to get to me.

Unless an animal is the victim, then I feel sick and disgusted. Yeah, I know it's just a movie and the animal isn't really harmed, but I still have that reaction.

I avoid gore in general, but find it generally easier to deal with than psychological thrillers which scare the s**t out of me. I probs don't mind gore compared to other people. Certainly do wince at certain things though ahaha.

Triggered BIG TIME.
I don't watch s**t like that. I've seen more than enough of that face-to-face in real life; I still see it in my dreams at night. I don't understand at all what possesses people to see the depiction of cruelty and grievous bodily harm as entertaining.
The mere fact that the merest nanosecond's flash of a nurturing, life-giving breast during a halftime show nobody watches results in apoplectic Congressional hearings, but necrophilic war porn like "American Sniper" is considered wholesome family entertainment reveals everything you need to know about just how cataclysmically f****d up our society is.

Are you talking fiction or real life?

Fiction: Doesn't really phase me and like Skilpadde sometimes find it funny - it's entertainment. I draw the line at animals and often find it distressing , I'd probably cry if I watched Bambi today ( I know that's not gore ).

Real Life: I did go through a phase of watching real life gore videos , I had some morbid fascination with them until I watched the beheading of someone by the Tawhid and Jihad Islamist group , it made me feel funny inside and something changed - these videos no longer interest me and I find them repulsive.

It depends on the context for me. Interestingly, I'm not disgusted at all watching movies with over-the-top gore, but surgery scenes can make me feel extremely uncomforable, often to the point of fainting.

I love watching surgical procedures , I even like watching boils getting lanced , there's something satisfying about watching the puss ooze out , I think it's knowing the pressure relief felt by the patient.

I'm not a fan of gore for one simple reason. It bores me. I honestly don't get the fascination of watching a movie jam packed with gore for the sake of it. I've never watched any of the Saw movies, but I have seen films like 'The Hills Have Eyes' and a few others I can't remember the name of. They were a bit lame. I prefer a film to have at least a really good, well thought out story line.

I do however prefer the comedy horror films such as Severance. That's one of my faves.
