It is disturbing to me how many people:

a) Choose to be exploited, voluntarily performing on reality tv shows.

b) Watch fake reality tv shows, as they comprise 90% of American television.

These shows are contests for arrogant, upper middle class people or wilderness shows (drop these boring young morons off in the forest and watch them interact for a month), or communal living shows with the same morons from the wilderness shows.

Talk shows are no better.

These people are always boring, obnoxious, and nothing interesting happens.

Do people still watch reality TV?

I haven't had cable TV in a very long time, and I don't hear about reality shows anymore, so I just kind of assumed that the trend had finally died.

I think Duck Dynasty was the last one that I heard people talking about, and that was a few years ago.

Reality TV shows are full of spoiled rich people. I don't have time for that.

Can not stand reality TV shows like that, I think they are absolutely fake.

Love Island is the worst one I can’t believe there are people with such low intelligence.

Why is reality TV getting such an "evil" reputation? Yes, I guess a lot of it is fake, and non-reality is better, but why is the whole talk/reality tarred as being so repulsive?

It is not relatable for many people.

I like some reality TV. I like American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, and some cooking competitions.

I suppose if you think about it sports competitions are reality TV. Nobody has a problem with those.

IMO, reality TV was awesome when the idea became a part of mainstream pop culture, but over the years, reality TV has indeed become boring, redundant crap.

I thought streaming shows from netflix, hulu, amazon prime ect made up 90% of American television now days and that's not all reality shows sure lots of garbage on those services but a lot of good stuff to. I prefer it because you don't have to watch/hear commercials every 5-10 minutes and can pick when and what to watch...instead of flipping through channels or looking through at whats on to see if anything interesting is on that isn't already 15 minutes in.

So much better than cable/satellite/antenna t.v that's obsolete.

Most of reality Tv is an abomination. I can only stand documentary Tv, which some might group into reality TV when it really isn’t. For example, MTV’s ‘True Life’ since it shines a light on various types of people which as a writer is an indispensable source for research.
