Has anyone here who has done the iq test at http://giqtest.com/ paid for the report afterwards? How accurate is it?

Nope, I have never trusted internet IQ tests.
I was tested at 8 and did the MENSA test a while ago.
I always got very varying results on the internet IQ tests.
Also, I just don't know the validity of any IQ test, most, unless culturally unbiased, seem to be a test more of how well you learnt at school, as opposed to how well you put your knowledge and experience to use.
It is an argument I had frequently with my ex...the validity of IQ tests.

I was bored, couldn't sleep, and thought I'd give it a go for fun. I've spent more money on even more trivial things, so why not?

First off, I've never taken a proctored IQ test, so I don't know what my "official" IQ test score would be. Most off-the-shelf IQ tests I've taken (online, in psych class, from books, from Mensa, etc.) I tend to score 126-128. The highest I've ever gotten on one of these types of tests was 147. I once took a so-called European IQ test that was all pattern-matching and I scored 164.

On the GIQ test I scored 139. What does this say? Nothing, really. Other than boredom + $10 = GIQ test.

I don't put a whole lot of faith in online IQ tests. I will say that the information presented by the test makers seem to suggest that their test used the same protocols as "official" tests, but I really wouldn't put a lot of faith in that.

If you want to take the test and spend the money, I don't think it would necessarily hurt as long as you don't try to use it as a replacement for an "official" IQ test (whatever that's worth). If you want to do it for fun (like I did), then go ahead.

FYI, I couldn't pass the tests Mensa gives to potential members. The proctor for that session even said that the one thing you can say about the people who get into Mensa that way is that they're good test takers. I ended up joining by using my SAT score from high school.

I also don't have much faith in IQ tests, anyway. I've never been officially tested but have done a few, in Mensa books, etc. Those are probably as good as official ones &, according to them, my IQ ranges from 120-150! 8)

Unproctored, untimed tests are meaningless. For an IQ test to be valid, it has to be administered in a controlled environment. And there is no such thing as a culturally-bias IQ test. If it shows bias, it is not valid.

This site is a scam, they gave me an inaccurate score and they steal your money and ignore refund requests after saying they will.
IGNORE it at all costs.

intelligencetest.com is free and is normed against one of the tests professionals used. That doesn't make it accurate beyond the fact that if you score high on it you're likely to score high on more accurate tests, and vice versa.

Massively underestimated my verbal score while massively overestimating my performance score. A waste of $10.

I would never go so far as to say IQ tests are useless. A properly administered WAIS-R (or whatever its current name is) not only gives a full scale IQ - a single number - but also verbal IQ and spatial IQ, as well as specific subtests. Not only that, but the test is administered one-to-one by a trained professional. Their written report should not only state all of the above scores, but whether the individual showed motivation, fatigue, frustration, distractibility, and so on. In specific cases, the tester may also "test the limits," for instance by giving additional time, to see if the test subject can perform the test when given adequate time.

All this information is useful in diagnosing mental, psychological, and particularly educational issues, and even neuropsychological issues such as specific brain damage in an accident or stroke. In autism assessment, the difference between the subtests can be very useful, and is usually quite a bit larger than in a typical NT subject.

This is a far cry from an online only test, and I have very little respect for them. That said, they will give a gross ball park estimate, along the lines of WAY bad scorer, average scorer, pretty good scorer. You could use this for a basis to get professionally tested, but you definitely should not give it much more credence than that.
