I've always been a cat person, and there was always a cat in the house when I was growing up, though I've not always had one at home later in life. I like all animals, but cats are rather special to me, and I always stop to have a chat with them whenever I meet one. It's not unusual that I'm sat with a cat on my lap giving it a fuss before their owner has finished telling me how kitty is really scared of people (maybe the cats are trying to tell me I'm not people? )
Of the other two autistic people I know IRL, one is definitely more of a dog person, and the other is not a pet person at all, as far as I know. However, among my other friends and family, the majority are cat lovers, so I wonder; are people who like cats more likely to get on with autistic people?
