I am 16. I am also not diagnosed with anything other than an anxiety problem at the moment, however, my therapist says she thinks I have autism. (just a brief summary of the situation)

I have had 4 jobs so far. I can't keep going to this job, but I have been told I must. A psychiatrist said she recommend I do not quit. I don't get much social interaction, and so she thinks this is good for me. It's terribly upsetting. It's loud, and makes me feel uncomfortable and queasy. I get home and breakdown. I'm afraid of that happening at work. I'm unsure of what to do.

Apologies for the complaining, life is a bit hard right now. Thanks for input.

That sounds really hard.

I presume you've told the psychiatrist about the full situation of the job, with it being loud etc.? Not sure where in the world you are or what your job is, but generally, employers do have to make reasonable accommodations for things like ASD. Not sure whether wearing ear plugs or working in a quieter location is possible for your job.

I hope things get better.

poor you! is it really necessary for you to work at the moment? you can learn to socialise in less stressful ways. e.g. through school / activity related clubs/ societies etc i really recommend having a hobby and sharing that with some people in real life. i find it the best way to develop a good friendship is when you have common interests and you'll also get to work on your social skills in a more comfortable environment.

i think retail (if that's what you're doing - but im assuming) can be extremely stressful even for NT so imagine a non NT. i just came back from work. i feel like over stimulated and weird like out of control. but i have to work cos im older :P

If your job is too loud, do you have some headphones or earplugs? If you don't get much social interaction maybe it could help.
