One of my pet peeves. Done by the inconsiderate, the rude, the egotists, the inarticulate attention seekers.
I live in apartment conversions, so this is a very common thing, being around so many peopel in a not so well off area.

How do you feel about people who slam doors? What do you feel are the reasons?
Does it affect you negatively?

My bathroom door won't stay shut unless I slam it. It's very annoying. And I probably don't need to shut it since I'm the only person in my apartment, but it still feels weird to be answering nature's call or bathing with the door open, just like it feels weird for me to even sleep in my room the same way.

Yes please close door quietly. Some people don't see this as disturbing the peace. I live in an apartment building and am grateful for the times when door slammers are inactive.

I also don't like it when people slam doors.
I live in a shared apartment and most tend to slam the doors on a daily basis, so I learned not to take it personally and just know that this is part of their lives

I slammed doors intentionally a lot when I lived with my parents & I was having a meltdown. 1ce I was pushed too far & tried running away which happened on lots of occasions but this one time I slammed the front door soo hard that the glass that was in the top part of it broke. It was not a window but glass to let light in that you couldn't see through. Those times were about the only major times I slammed doors. My girlfriend accuses me of slamming the door at our apartment but I'm not closing the door forcefully, I'm just closing it. I think she's worried about the neighbors hearing it because we hear the 1s directly on both sides of us open & close their doors when we're in our living-room cuz the walls are super thin.

My previous neighbors used to do it a lot and it was annoying. It's contact sound so it travels far.

Me being sensitive to sounds from a traumatic event, it has effect and makes me anxious. Loud bangs like that are not great from out of nowhere when I can't see where they originated from.

I don't slam building doors and I don't like doors being slammed. It kind of startles me if it's close by. I do open doors with a lot of force though with people knowing it's me before I walk through said door.

I slam car/vehicle doors by accident though. I'm bad with applying too much pressure with everything and I drive a truck with a heavier door. So when I'm in someone's car, I unconsciously close the door of a Corolla like my truck... and here comes the yelling!

door slamming is also one of my pet peeve. Thankfully, my housemates are v decent girls and we've reached an agreement that no door slamming will occur late in the evening and early in the morning. I still hear the door but at least im not filled with rage ^^

I have slammed doors in anger, as have other family members.

When I do it, it still doesn't slam enough!

If others do it, I know they're angry, and I'm indifferent or just slightly annoyed. "Whatever". If I'm not prepared it can startle me though, and that's less okay to me. It's the not being prepared.
I'll take slamming doors over yelling any day. Yelling is very uncomfortable to be around. No one wants to witness other people's fights.

My father keeps slamming doors regardless of mood. It is almost every time he closes a door, it gets slammed too hard. And he also has a tendency to jerk them up real hard. That's annoying, because it's just him being careless (as usual).

I slam doors for various of reasons.
I could be pissed, frustrated, angry, scared, nervous, not paying enough attention, forgot to hold myself back, excited, etc...

Not just as closing them, but also when opening it.
I've once slammed a car door open... ... And hit another car's door with it. On my college graduation day no less. I didn't even apologized. A least there weren't any damage.

And I also knock (read: bang) doors, and I don't even have to be in a bad mood for it to happen.
I've bang an auditor's office door more than twice.
At the first encounter? Someone told me that someone in it back then had actually pulled a gun under the table and thought I was one of those thugs who'll be charging in their office for malicious reasons. And no, those people don't have anxiety issues -- they were under death threats and I 'triggered' them into vigilance.

How I feel about others slamming doors? Depends. First conclusion from me usually would be someone is pissed, and that's just it.
I don't mind the noise itself, but the person who did.
Second conclusion would be the wind. It could go both ways; literally or fugitively.

I have a super-sensitive startle reflex, so yes, I hate slamming doors. I realise that most people probably aren't doing it on purpose, but I think that years of practice at being a "midnight ninja" make me more inclined to get a bit cross about it. I manage to do everything so quietly that my landlady, who lives in the room below, often can't tell whether or not I'm home - I feel as if I've failed if I bang a door too hard against the jamb or put my weight on one of the creaky floorboards.

I so hate slamming doors that I often need a few attempts before I get the door to latch closed properly.
