Does anyone hate being late for anything? Late for school? Late for a meeting? A rendevous?

When a buss is late or when the professor comes in late, INSTANT MELTDOWN. But when I miss the bus, I drop down and cry or scream and run into heavy traffic, and the last thing I wanted is someone to tell me to wait another half hour for the next bus. That makes me even madder.

The bus was 6 minutes late and I almost screamed at the driver for being incompetent.

Has this happened to you?

not even close to the same degree, but yes. I like to be early, at least 15 minutes early to things.

When I am late I am generally annoyed and it dampens my mood a bit. I tend to get over it pretty quickly, have had to learn to. I have 4 kids and it's hard to get everyone moving sometimes.

It's so important to me to not be late that I hate even being on time!

10 to 15 minutes early is my goal.

I always get to places 10 mins early. I'm scared of being late.

Just common courtesy isn't it? I know how I feel if there is a meeting and the person is late.

It's almost never a sin to be a little early. What does it hurt?

I don't get as upset as you do, but I don't like being late. It makes me feel as if it's disrupted my whole routine and I have to re-organize my thoughts all over again.

This is me as well.

I have a professor that shows up 5 minutes late to every class but I still practically sprint from my class before to her class. I'm usually the first one there and I always beat her by 10 minutes.

I would rather skip a class than walk in 5 minutes late.

Better early topic

I was paranoid of being late as a kid. Strange for a kid to be so time conscious. This is the first time I have read of others who were like me in this regard. Being late forschool would mean that others would look at you when you came in. And three times late meant corporal punishment, the dreaded strap from the principal in the office.

I have never been late for work or other appointments. It might mean problems, and I have enough of those!

I used to have anxiety attacks over not arriving on time. For not turning things in on time. This causes me to procrastinate, and to ultimately miss an easy deadline. This caused me to waste years and years of college.

This is mostly caused by my perfectionism, which I assume is in turn rooted in my insecurities, which were largely generated by an abusive household.

I still have a lot of stress related to it.

Here is how I cope:

Tai Chi
Anxiolytic medication
talking about it to friends (NOT venting! venting only reinforces the behavior. understand it, not be enraged by it)
reminding myself that its my life and my time, I can do with it whatever I damn well please and if I show up late its no one's business but my own

Its been working pretty good. Im passing both of my classes this semester (a first) !

Sure, throws me out completely, however, can occur due to cuffuful getting ready - routines ec. Long jouney included frazzles, timetables, tosh, then there's potential for chatty randomers that apparently know you and want to catch up (have to run into one of those on the way to an important meet and appear rude in abrupt attempt to move on,) may realise essential work or book is still in room. Pack and confirm next days routine the night before to avoid, though not consistently possible. Mother organises her time with phone alarms every day that drive me barmey... 'brrrrring time to breathe.'
