I recently started to walk on the beach every day for 5 miles
I have found the experience very therapeutic

and feel happier in my self doing it

i think that part of it is getting away from humans and human made noise
(sensory hypersensitive)

perhaps its the hippy in me, but i think that the energy of the earth (sand) under my feet, the fresh air in my lungs, but also the sea beside me that must be very healing

I think that taking a walk in nature is really healing, and I recommend it to those aspergers on this forum who need some destressing

but also
with that connection to nature
i appear to need less contact with people

and am more happy just plodding along with nature

I believe "walking in nature" is far better than taking medication.

Totally agree! I used to go hiking a lot and was much happier for it. Its funny you mention this now bc I was just looking for my hiking shoes and winter weight sleeping bag 2 days ago, they're in a box somewhere  Haven't been in years. Thinking about going on a small camping/hiking trip with my furbaby.

I feel the most at peace in the desert where there is stillness and quiet. But also enjoy the woods and the sounds of the birds etc.

Is one big reason why I like flying kites out in the sky and the landscape.

My local nature trail has been "developed." It looks more like a mine site now. Instead, I ride my bike when it is not too cold, because I really need the exercise, sunshine, and fresh air to feel good.

Walking in the woods, on the beach, paddling in a stream. All wonderful and bring real joy to me.

Yes, absolutely.

For the past five or six years, and especially the past few, I rarely let a weekend go by without hitting the walking trails at the local reservations.

It's putting myself back in touch with something 'real' after working sometimes up to and over 80 hours in a week and having the rest of my contact with the world mostly through Youtube and Facebook. It's a blessing to just be out in the open with fresh O2 off the press and being alone with my own thoughts in a much more grounded environment.

Also the five miles sounds great - most of the time it's maybe been three or four round-trip just because most places around me don't really have that.

for me its the best therapy ever, alone in the woods at the lake shore and in the woods is my natural habitat! Nothing compares with the peace and enjoyment I find there.
