Something that my mum has pointed out to me on several occasions that my hands start to shake for no reason. I have noticed it as well.

I have looked up posts on here before but it kept saying Bad Gateway so do anyone hands shake on occasion.

I do sometimes. But I figured that was due more to my dyspraxia. But who knows. It doesn't happen enough for me to have brought it up with my doctors.

At least sometimes, apparently. Some guy pointed it out to me a few years back, someone I met hanging out at a mutual friend's house. "Why do your hands shake like that" he asked me.... and, he had an accent I didn't understand very well so I had to ask him to repeat the question.

It was the first I'd heard of it, but I've noticed it a few times since. Not all the time. Unless it's just another one of my weird characteristics that everyone can see but me.

I remember a girl at college with dyspraxia, and she had noticeably shaky hands.

I don't have shaky hands.

Yes, unfortunately. The official name is "essential tremor" which is medical-speak for "we have no idea what causes it."

Some people get improvement with supplements like magnesium. Also, some prescription medications used for migraine and high blood pressure, like propranolol, are known to treat it effectively.

I have essential tremor - I shake all over, although predominantly in my hands. I used to take propranolol for it, but it was making my blood pressure drop too low, so I had to stop. My doctor said that most medications for it lower blood pressure and/or have depression (which I already have quite badly) as a potential side effect, so now I have to just put up with it  It makes it painful for me to write, draw, etc. because I have to press so hard to keep the pencil still enough, and it's embarrassing that it makes me rather sloppy when I eat, and it makes most things requiring manual dexterity difficult to impossible. Very obnoxious.

Not without a known reason.

Only if I had enough caffeine.
Or if something in my system needs to be filled (hungry) or removed (excrete).
Or if my hands are so cold, it's practically numb.
Or actually being overwhelmed by anything - strong emotions, or sensations perceived as painful.

No, but my mom does. She doesn't have ASD, but it's pretty clear to me that my ASD comes from her side.

I used to have the shakes pretty badly when I first started lithium. It lasted a few months until my psychiatrist had me start taking benztropine. That's usually for people with Parkinson's Disease but it works for me as well.

No. But my dad has developed really bad tremors in his own hands and has to drink from cups that are heavy enouhg not to easily tip but light enough so he can pick them up. It makes me sad and worried. :(

If my own hands get so shaky I can't draw pictures or type anymore I will grant permission to have me shot in the head. :skull:

I have shaky hands, I think its because a lot of us are constantly stressed from not being able to understand our surroundings? I shake because i’m confused or anxious or I cant exactly figure something out.

I have essential tremor and it started up around when I was 15. So yes.

Yes, I have had essential tremors since childhood. Mostly it's in my hands and it's mild enough that it often goes unnoticed. It gets worse when I am tired or stressed.

It has an unfortunate tendency to worsen at the most inconvenient times. Example: when I am trying to use a syringe to get chicken broth into a sick, dehydrated baby snake's stomach without shooting the stuff into its one functional lung instead and killing it. Then of course it decides to come on full bore, requiring me to brace my whole arm and the side of my hand against a wall.

That's when it's always the worst for me too. :D

Unfortunately I botched it and killed him, though I suspect he was a goner anyway.

But yeah, I have some unusual hobbies and interests, not the least of which is breeding snakes. It's certainly not a situation most people will find themselves in!
