Hi all

I am in Australia

I have had bladder issues since a spinal injury in 2009 and been handling the issue on my own since 2010 as had tests and got lost in the system. I haven't been able to talk about this in real life due to embarrasement and anxiety issues and haven't found a product I am comfortable with some people are stating it could be a sensory thing?? about not finding the right product.

I am unable to afford a continence assessment as well as the State health system has refused me one as NDIS (National Disability Insurance Agency) was coming in and NDIS has provided me a lot of funding for continence things but since I have never had a "product assessment" I do not know what I need as well as find a comfortable product to wear.

I have tried different Brands of Medium and Large pullups but find they do not fit me properly (medium too tight and large too loose) as well as irritate the skin.

Thanks for any advice

I'm not from Australia so don't bite my head off if this is impractical... Could you contact NDIS and tell them your difficulty, and ask if you could try various products until you find one that works best for you?

I'm sorry for your situation - that must be very trying. And very lonely, too.

Their is a cream called "Menalind professional" produced by a company called Hartmann.

It's a kind of cream that creates a "protective barrier" between your skin and the pads.
It comes in two versions, a spray on bottle and a cream, the cream, in my opinion, is better.
Any chemist in Australia should be able to get that, or their suppliers "equivalent brand".

That should help a lot with the irritation and redness(assuming it's being caused by the pads and/or exposure to urine in the pad).

lille supremform used to be a decent incontinence pad that didn't cause too much irritation.
I say "used to" because in the last few years, it's been a treadmill as each pad manufacturer moves to China or some other cheapo place.
So they may still be good, or they may have declined. I have not used them in a year, so if you want to, try them and see.
But a year ago they were still pretty good.
Whatever you do don't order a huge batch, try to get a single packet of 3 to 6 different products/sizes and try them, find one that both works and doesn't feel horrible to wear.

And I prefer using pads in combination with something called "netpants" over pullups and other kinds of imitation underpants.
But that is something that tends to be very different for each person. So find what works best for you. I mention it in-case you didn't know about them.

Cheers.
