Other aspies, our loved ones don't hate is as this forum would have us believe. We are not abusers as this form states that we are.

This is a very dangerous form for any aspie as it will flat put state that having ASeans being a soulless creature.

I wonder if the author of the article ever read the many insightful writings of autistic people, or just based their opinion off a couple negative encounters with autistic people. All autistics are different and present our traits differently. We may have trouble with social interaction and communication, but that doesn't mean we don't have emotions and aren't capable of understanding complex things and caring for others.

That's what they want -- people to oppose them on their own turf, so that they can gang up and attack. Without any victims to 'feed' their egos on, they will eventually get bored.

This article from the site is worse.

I would guess that wrong planet gets more hits in an hour then that site has ever gotten. Unless they become popular they represent no threat. So until there is evidence they are gaining any type of influence best to follow Fnord's advice.

If you go to the "Testimonials" section you can see who's site it is (3rd testimonial)
Google her name and you will find she has written a book about a failed relationship with an undiagnosed aspie which is promoted in the book reviews section. So TheAP was on the right track.
No need to worry, just someone promoting a book that won't sell 500 copies.

I read both articles. I'd rate them as 80% signal, 20% noise. 80% of it is on point & valuable feedback for how others see us, 20% of it is exaggerated biased BS and rather offensive. All of it combined makes me feel that remaining single is a good move on my part - can't ruin anyone else' life if I'm not in it.

Thread moved from Random to General Autism Issues, because every AS person - either directly or indirectly, either sooner in life or later, either as personal attack or stemming from the huge NT ignorance and misinformation about neurodiverse people - will encounter hate speech aimed at himself or herself.

I hope there will be continuing focus on nuanced discussion about this topic and not a default to reactionary hate speech in the same vein of and toward the NT perpetrators...

We need a sticky thread for this stuff as a showcase for what we put up with.

We don't do stickies here anymore. Even if we did I wouldn't sticky such low quality stuff.

An AS writer (Troy Camplin) writes in this article about neurotypical ignorance, addressing his words directly to NTs. It's his take, and I think it is a very thoughtful response, though I don't agree 100% with all his points, (only most of them):

I failed to find any "absolute hatred" there. Perhaps I missed it as it's 3AM and I have a migraine. If someone could copy a snippet of what the "absolute hatred" was, I'd be extremely grateful.

I agree. It’s organizations like Autism Speaks that need to be worried about, since they are the main autism “charity” in America.

Testimonials were interesting. Seemed to be grouped in their timings. I find their authenticity to be dubious.
