I have a Doctor’s appointment coming up
Im going to the doctor in about a month, and I’m finally going to get a chance to ask my doctor to be tested for ASD. I’m nervous about how it’s going to go. I tried telling my family before but they didn’t believe me, and I’m worried they won’t bring me to actually get tested even if the doctor agrees i should. Or the doctor might make me ‘prove’ myself. Or they won’t believe me at all.
Im also worried that I might get unfairly tested and will get a negative, because I know my parents won’t bring me back for a second test in that case. I’m worried I might be misdiagnosed with a personality disorder.
I could use tips for how to make the process of telling my doctor easier and less nerve wrecking, how to ‘prove’ myself, etc.
For anyone questioning, I want to get a diagnosis to help with school and so my family will believe that my issues are not those of a NT teen. It would help a bunch to have support at home.

I communicate better in writing than orally. So if it was me, I would write it all out, reworking it several times until it said exactly what I wanted to say.
It should include
why you feel you had ASD (list of symptoms)
supporting evidence such as your Autism Spectrum Quotient self test results (This is a free test you can do online)
what you are requesting from the doctor - allow me to be tested for ASD
why you want to be tested: "I want to get a diagnosis to help with school and so my family will believe that my issues are not those of a NT teen."
Best if it were typed out on the computer and then printed out. Sign and date it.
Put it all down and present it to the doctor when you make your office visit.

A very unique plan. As Dr. Paul Thompson wrote, "This is the very best paper on the virus I have ever seen."
One other comment. An official diagnosis may be rather expensive. So you may want to figure out how this cost will be paid for ahead of time.
