i think i need help. i don't have health insurance so i'm not sure if i can go to a therapist or anything. i made a post earlier about getting a diagnosis, but i found out the school i go to (alternative, i only have a few credits to complete for my senior year) isn't the same as a regular high school so i don't think i can go that route. i've spent almost 2 weeks attempting to complete one of my credits, i'm only a third of the way done, i can't focus on it at all, its not that its boring. i just don't see the point. i can't afford college, my mom makes less than 30k a year and she has her own student loan debt (about 50k) to worry about. and i start to sweat and can't open my mouth to say anything every time i go to pick up an application for a job. if i can't work and i can't go to college whats the point? i'm out of options, and time.

Call the Social Security Administration and describe your situation. You may be able to get some funding due to having a developmental disability. It won't make you wealthy, but it can help pay your expenses of living.

The number is 1-800-772-1213. You may be on Hold a while.

Good luck. Things probably are not quite as dire as it seems.

Alternative schools have to provide the same services as public schools, and that should include counseling. Also, religious organizations sometimes provide counseling, or county health departments can maybe refer you to a provider of free counseling.

And as Bea says, SSI, is also a good option, if you are 18 or over. If you have never worked, make sure you tell them you are applying for SSI and not SSDI. If they think you are applying for SSDI, they will likely deny you.

Good luck.
