I keep on having dreams about my mother nagging me, to the point it is disrupting my sleep and I cannot handle hearing any nagging without it setting me off because I cannot get away from it and have trouble telling if these dreams are real or not.

When things bother me they usually follow me, appearing in my dreams. But if I have an issue and as I'm trying to fall asleep and I think directly upon it instead, repeating in my head that I will not dream it, it usually doesn't follow me. (Gets replaced with some other anxious swirling issues ha)

Off hand I would say that your dreams are your bodies way of telling you that you are in a distressed state. The stress you felt when your mother was nagging you is stored in your muscles and nervous system as chemicals. This stress energy needs to be released in order for your body to return to a normal state.

Although I am not an expert at all in this area. I suspect that you need to vent this stress energy. So put your body in a restful state, recall the dream of your mother nagging you and then run like mad away from her. Get your legs moving while you are laying down to release the stress. Probably good to have someone there with you to prevent you from hurting yourself in the process.

But then again what do I know!
