Hi everyone,

I got a letter there a few days ago from the Clinical Psychologist who specialises in Autism diagnosis and it turns out that the waiting list has an exceptionally long wait, so I will be waiting longer than usual for my first appointment, is this normal? I have been waiting over two years to get my appointment and it looks like I'm going to wait another year for an appointment, I'm disappointed but not surprised, has this happened to any of you?

Holy moly! I'm sorry to hear that. What kind of healthcare system do you have that allows for such unacceptable service???

I'm not sure about Ireland, but around were I live, it takes several months to a year if you are getting referrals through and everything.

I looked it up and did find this:

Northern Ireland's Health Service is disgraceful, it's horrible, plus the fact that we still have no government running at all.

You weren't kidding! I checked the NAS in NI website, and it offers no diagnostic services or advice for services.

I am guessing that self paying isn't an option?

I just don't have the money to go private and the Government pays for the Health Service here anyway so it's free, but it's a disgrace that my Health Trust Area takes so long to give me an appointment.

Wow, that's a long time, sorry you have to wait so long. I'm really lucky, it took 2,5 months from my referral to my first appointment.
