if its to play games on my chair i can deal with any size. but to browse no. I have a 24 inches monitor and i use a function to reduce the size to 17 cause i feel more confortable with it. i only put into 24 again to play videogames.

I do everything on a 32" tv monitor on my desk. Never even thought about it before. But I get what you're saying.

I’d rather browse the Internet with a large screen and keyboard....than with a small-screened tablet where I have to type one finger at a time.

I just don't maximize my browser windows.

It's a lot easier to read blocks of text when it's taller than it is wide, like a book. That's why newspapers and magazines usually break articles into columns.

When I design my own web pages (which I haven't done in a while), I usually use CSS and/or tables to intentionally put a width limit on text.

I just hate websites that are "optimized" for tablets >_<

The text is way too big, and half the time they use a font that doesn't have hinting enabled (so it looks terrible without anti-aliasing). A lot of the formatting goes a bit broken on a computer, too.

Big, bright monitors bother my eyes. A lot of people in my family have poor eyesight, though.

Same here. I have a low vision disorder & need to be real close to smaller monitors & TVs so I kind of prefer bigger ones. I also have bad fine motor-skills & do better with physical keypads instead of those virtual 1s that your forced to use on most tablets & phones nowadays.

I really should download that program that automatically adjusts your screen's brightness for you, but I've never bothered.

Actually, I don't keep my CRT monitor that bright. Sometimes I watch movies on it, or I'll play dark games like Thief 2, with the lights off, so I try to keep the black levels just right.

My LCD at work is too bright, but there's nothing I can do about it (most of the buttons are broken, and most of the Windows settings are locked out). I can darken the theme a bit, but really, the only time I use it for longer than a minute is when I'm sneaking into things I shouldn't be...

My eye sight is getting worse each year. I just got a 32 inch monitor last holiday season and it is such a relief for my eyes. Just enlarging type makes it so much easier to read. Also, I can put up two documents at once so that I can copy and paste without having to open and close documents. I use the monitor mostly for work, not games. I also touch type, so those virtual keypads on tablets are a pain.

I agree, I don't know how people do it. Every time I have to use a touch screen keyboard, I feel like I'm back in 3rd grade, hunting-and-pecking, it's just too frustrating to have to type so slooooowwwwwwww... :x

But I'm glad I missed out on the numpad typing that flip phones used to have. I guess it's still kind of popular in Japan, they have it as an option on the 3DS, and they have it in Smash Bros. for putting in your initials.
