Voice And Intonation
What is others thoughts on intonation of the voice and if it is something that won't always feel "right" 100% of the time? I noticed this more recently with my new job. I feel I can't help but sound monotone in voice recordings but if I try to raise or lower the pitch of my voice it feels unnatural. My colleagues have very expressive voices.
Anyone relate?

I feel like this is a very common trait among asd people, I’ve read it at least a few times in descriptions and personally have this issue too. I have bipolar 2 as well so at times I burst out in affected theatrical voices and accents and sing, but if I’m being myself I’m so monotone and mumbled people struggle to understand me. If I’m really uncomfortable in a conversation my mouth will fill with saliva forcing me to limit my mouth movements and become even more monotone and inaudible x )
I've been told that my voice sounds odd in various ways and that I speak with a "flat affect."
I feel that this doesn't really matter too much because, luckily, I live and work in highly multicultural environments where there are immigrants from all over the world, with lots of different accents and intonations.
Even if I lived and worked in a more monocultural environment, I would hesitate to try to change my voice too much. I would be afraid of an uncanny valley effect if I worked too hard to sound normal. At most I would try to work on removing any qualities from my voice that other people found especially annoying, but I don't think I would try to sound just like everyone else.
In your case I would suggest that you work on just the "mumble" and not worry about the "monotone," at least for now. It's more important that people be able to understand what you are saying than that your tone sound like everyone else's.
