I have plastic and silicone utensils. Silicone is heat resistant.

Yes, I measured about 20 dB less noise splapping a silicone spatula against a pan versus a plastic one. That is quite a bit. Silicone is soft and flexible. Plastic is better for scraping something out of a pan, but I rarely need to do that with new Teflon pans.

I've seen Japanese chefs use wooden chopsticks for cooking. That can be a very cheap option.

The frying of bacon is around the same level as the noise generated by slapping a plastic spatula against an aluminum skillet. Of course, the noises are different, so you could still find noise of the same intensity more irritating.

A little bacon fat will prevent stuff from stuff from sticking to the pan.

Silverware shouldn't really be that noisy unless you're trying to break something o_O

You really don't hear the annoying scraping when eating

I have some Oneida spoons that make an annoying sound/vibration on my Corelle bowls when I'm scraping the last bits of my ice cream out, but otherwise I guess I just eat too carefully.

This reminds me of an interview Denis Istomin did in Australia. He was being interviewed in a really noisy restaurant in Australia. I admired how he kept his composure and didn't get distracted. I would love to have that kind of composure in an interview.

I suck at interviews. Luckily, I'm not remotely famous or infamous enough to be interviewed

I love chopsticks, but I never have a good excuse to use them...most food that I cook isn't chopstick friendly.

Chopsticks are really the best way to eat Ramen soup, but I can't eat gluten anymore =|

Not as ramen, but try rice noodles.

I'm surprised that such silverware hasn't been invented yet. Silverware has been around for at least 5 centuries. You'd think that less noisy silverware could have been invented by now. I wonder if silverware made of copper would be less noisy.
