When I went for my ADHD assessment last year to get diagnosed, I was asked how old I was when I first learnt to walk unaided, and (according to my parents) I was 11 months old. My mum says I could stand up on my own at 9 months, then one day I just started walking, without having to hold on to furniture, and I hadn't even reached my first birthday. She says it was like I wanted to get around and had a lot of energy and enthusiasm.

I thought the average stage of walking was at least 12 months, but I'm not sure. But the person who assessed me said that one of the diagnostics for ADHD is learning to walk unaided before 12 months old.

Is this true? Who else here has ADHD and knows they learnt to walk before their first birthday?

My son is full of energy and shows many signs of ADHD and he learned to walk at 10 months. He was taking steps at 9 months and walking halfway across the room with his arms up before falling.

My daughter isn't ADHD and she started walking at 11 months.

I didn't have ADHD, but I was very active and walking, even running, at an early age.

A lot of babies stand and walk before they’re a year old, whether or not they are on the ASD spectrum.

People have to stop looking for just one sign that proves a person has an ASD. There are multiple symptoms, and not all symptoms have to be present for an ASD diagnosis.

My oldest daughter began crawling at 6 months and walking at 7 months. She never developed ADHD.

I have Aspergers & also had ADHD combined type as a kid but just inattentive type as an adult & I think I learned to walk slightly late.
