How would you feel if a hobby for eight years ends suddenly?

I've been drinking like a fish, metaphorically speaking, spent most of today 'seeing double'...

It's so weird, after eight years, naturally, my interest went down and I only maintained maybe a once-a-day relationship with it, but since it's under threat of ending totally due to arbitrary reasons... and this is mostly what pisses me off. If it was logical reasons, sure, acceptable... if it's entirely my fault, sure, my fault... it's a bit in between, though... I missed this thing that made things so much more efficient and some people won't even believe I missed it? Like, am I supposed to not miss anything, ever? I even f*****g apologized for not being omniscient and they didn't accept it, like WTF else do I need to do!

And now they're even saying that somehow it's 'strange' that I want to stay as long as possible, that I even dare ask for the time when the specific ending is supposed to be? What's strange about that? While I realize feeling this much about a hobby that over time my interest decreased in... I did just discover this tool and it kind of re-invigorated my interest, but nobody gives a s**t, of course. And, anyway, besides exponentiality it's the same thing, so why am I worried? It's still boring as a basic unit... but, even if opening a door is boring every day, it's something I did every day and if I suddenly can't open a door... well, I wouldn't even be able to go outside of it.

Change is strange, but that's progress.

What is the hobby?

What is making the hobby end?

Incredible depression for a few days, then just a lack of interest in anything for a few weeks, including what is important. Over time however, the gap gets filled with something stronger.

Maybe you thought seriously about the climate crisis, and saw that your hobby was not part of the solution.

my hobbies and special interests tend to do that naturally. I just move on to bigger and better things.

I really think you should get help for your drinking problem.
