Memory Retention Failure
I have real trouble remembering things that have happened 2, 3, 5 years ago. With special regard to dialogue spoken. It's like the ghost of a memory, where I only think back to some vague and fuzzy scenarios but they feel like it never happened before because my mind has such a hard time recalling what occured. Some of the memories are painful to recall, but it's like I'm only experiencing the emotion of what that memory makes me feel, not what the emotion of the memory was.
Even in regular memory recollection I have a certain disconnect. One example is viewing old home videos, and I was watching my graduation procession, and I looked at some guy in sunglasses and his collar turned up looking like he was so sure of himself and thought along the lines of "Wow, he's a douchebag." Then I realized I was staring at myself.
Is this a common problem if your brain isn't functioning typically or does everyone experience these issues?
