I'm practically trapped... I can only move to this place which, on most other measures, isn't too bad actually with regards to how much nonsense seeps in from neighbours... but wow, this existential puzzle can never be solved, truly... it's bordered by an alley which, apparently, people whose houses do not even face this direction have a right to park in, to intrude upon my life with their engines. Is that the epitome of selfishness or what?

I honestly can't believe this... I keep switching between noisy neighbours to noisy vehicles and vice versa, I'm so fed up... but this idiotic, simple alley? Not quite like a main road which is more impossible to do anything about... people seriously expect me to not retaliate? To relish their sh***y engines? I'm going to either end up throwing stuff at individual cars, or... even more efficiently and less directly conflicting... simply put garbage to block it.

HOW DARE people claim 'right of way' near someone's bedroom? They think I'm as helpless now as when the traffic flowed ceaselessly through one of the busiest roads?

Seriously doubt any of those people even know you exist. And if they have a legal right of way, it's up to you to either put up with it or find somewhere else to live.

I run an air filter next to the bed as a white noise generator to mask out road noise that helps with my allergy issues.

I second the white noise generator: fan, filter, etc.

Nice to know that, while we generally cannot change the behavior of others, we can adapt our own response. I find this concept empowering.

i use a large HEPA filter in the bedroom which generates a dense fog of brown and pink noise which is pretty good at masking external sounds. what i really ought to do one of these days, is bring my portable audio recorder to a large building auditorium and record some air handler noise. that is the best brown noise there is, very relaxing. :)
