When ever I am with a dog I just feel like there is nothing that can stop me nothing that can bother me. I really miss my dog and I haven't had one since 2 years ago when we had to get rid of her. Since then I have had so many more meltdowns so much more depression so much more crying. I still had meltdowns when I had my dog just when ever she was around I couldn't stay mad. I just HAD to be happy. I wish our helper dog was coming quicker.

I find any kind of animal to be a calming influence. I have 2 kittens and a small dog. They help me get through the day.

I'm not really a dog person, but currently my mother has a brindle pit bull who is the sweetest dog ever. You'd expect a "fighting dog" like a pit bull to be aggressive, but not him. In many respects, he is more like a cat, and that's why I like him so much. He'll just walk up to you, put his head on your leg, and then you can pet him for minutes and minutes on end. He's a really amazing personality.

Yes! I currently have a service dog and my puppy is in training to take over. both are German Shepherds my puppy is larger then my current service dog. I am able to function at a higher level with my dog then with out.

Yay kitties and doggies :)

Doesn't have to be a big dog, I'm just more comfortable with animals as a whole.

It took me a long time to realize that a lot of why I was getting "worse" when I went to college was not living with animals anymore. Other things have clearly added to that, but you can already see the difference since I got my kitty.

Yes I feel at such peace when I am with animals I am fond of. I have a dog as well. He's a Pekingese and very lovable, smart and faithful . He dies not live with me anymore because my building doesn't allow dogs. He is with a good friend of mine now. He is even a therapy dog now providing comfort to people as he once did for me :)

He made me so happy.

Definitely. I'm still torn in half that my dog died months ago.

I feel at peace with any sized dog around, as long as it has a good owner.

I LOVE big dogs!

When my sister's friend came over with his two dogs (one a kelpie/shepherd cross) it felt like it was Christmas day. It happened to be my birthday.

I played with them all day and got quite dirty. I've missed hanging out with big dogs.

My sister's friend has a white dingo and I tell her me and Runta are going to start a pack together. Runta was attacked by a dog recently and lost about an inch of her ear and it was like my comrade was injured. I wanted to get revenge on the dog then I realised it wasn't really the fault of the dog and that me and Runta were not at a war with other dogs in the neighbourhood.

I love her though and I loved another dingo cross the exact same way.

I either want to get a kelpie, dingo or Akita Inu. Although German Shepherds have been my favourite breed since I was two.

It's unbelievable how excited I still get around big dogs and how everything just seems so much better when they're around.

For now the silky/Maltese mix called Bear will have to be my companion. He's not very yappy for a little terrier. He's quite old but still energetic. Quite a little cheeky lil bugger too. But we have howling sessions when ambulances pass. He'll only really howl if I join in though.

My cat is more active with ball chasing though. One of her nicknames is dogcat.

Absolutely! I love dogs! I wish so much I could have one with me right now. The more I think about it, the more I am considering the possibility of getting "assistance" designation for it when I do have a dog of my own, because they just make it so much easier for me to get through the day.

A few weeks ago I stopped in a pawn shop with my boyfriend, presumably to look at their musical instruments. Turns out he'd only lured me in there because he knew that there was a gigantic friendly bull mastiff that hangs out in the shop, and he knew that I'd go nuts! SUCH a nice dog, he came up to my waist (I'm 5'7") and was so docile and sweet and let me just pet all over him. It was great!

If anyone's interested, I actually started a thread on this very subject a couple days ago over in the Members Only section. Lots of cuteness so far): Dogs! thread :)

I wish that I had a dog or cat. Animals really do make me feel right just by their presence.

Love my big yellow lab, i really wanted a big pack of labs, wolf hybrids, grey hounds, German shepards, rotties, schnauzers, dobermans, Irish wolf hounds and blue cattle dogs, but my mum says i suit just labs and greyhounds better, I'm too cute and small for "tough" dogs, probs true, I'm a bean pole
My lab kudja and I are besties we lay on the floor together we have hug time, he tries to sit in my lap even tho he's too big, we groom each other, we play with his big traffic cone that my dad nicked from work

I tend to feel at peace, suppose it's something to do with the dog being very close to you, knowing that this dog will be your loyal companion from now until the day he or she dies. It's rare to find that in people, but in dogs it's very common. I think that is the main reason for me why big dogs put me at ease, even though all dogs do this. I also like how gentle and mellow most big dogs are, such as the St Bernard or the Mastiff.

When I was a kid we had a newfoundland dog...Whenever I was sad or angry I always sat down next to him and after a few minutes he realized that I wasn't okay and he would lean into me and just stay there until I stopped crying... He would do this no matter what he was doing before I sat down... He had a remarkable ability to calm me down... When we had this dog I was not overall happy with my life but he made it bearable to live with the bullies, the financial troubles in the household and my loneliness... Today I believe that if I were to get a dog again that size and personality I would be able to do much more than I do now... The only problem is I don't got room for that big a dog... And I probably won't have for many years...

I would only be at peace if this big dog had recently destroyed all of my foes.

The spelling error in the subject line made me smile. I can just imagine a big dog leaving someone in pieces rather than at peace. :P
