Subbed in a self-contained special ed classroom

Yesterday, I subbed in a self-contained special ed classroom, which really took me back, as I was in a classroom like that for virtually all of elementary school and most of middle school (as well as a little bit of high school). Like in some of the classrooms I remembered (where we had pet gerbils in the classroom), this class had guinea pigs. We ate lunch in the classroom rather than in the cafeteria. There was actually a greater deal of freedom for the students in special ed, compared to mainstream classrooms. It was interesting to see the class from a teacher's perspective.
