Whenever I go to a shopping centre or somewhere else in public, especially indoors or somewhere crowded, my vision gets blurry and it’s hard to focus. I have to stand close to things in the shop so I can see better, and sometimes I need to look through a gap between my fingers.

It makes me feel more anxious than I would have been otherwise. I have astigmatism, but I’m not sure if it’s because of that. Whenever I get new glasses, the problem is still there.

Is this a common thing for people on here?

I have noticed that my vision seems wrong sometimes. Usually it's in certain lights, but there are also other people around during these times, so really I don't know which causes it. I have actually wondered if it was something to do with being Autistic, so I'm curious about what other people say in reply to your post. I don't know if I would say my vision is blurry, maybe I'd say fuzzy and almost seeming like it's all 2D, but it's like my brain stops being able to register the things I'm seeing. I have noticed that, if it happens, it helps when I put my sunglasses on (regardless of being inside or outside) and/or wear my noise reduction headphones, which is probably why I've come to believe it's something to do with Autism. I don't have any issues with my eyesight otherwise.

When I’ve tried to describe it before, I’ve described it as “there is too much to look at,” which sounds similar to what you’ve said. It’s like there’s too much at once, especially if it’s noisy as well.

Overcast weather is a problem for me, too, so I have to wear my sunglasses when I’m in the car even if it’s not sunny.
