I have the impression that the Uber Star system tends to give the short end of the stick to people with aspergers. People's first impressions are based on superficial qualities, basically the same ones that determine how popular someone is in high school, such as charisma, stylishness, attractivenes etc.

In my experience, if you're not willing and able to make a display of being outgoing, happy and "cool" you can expect your Uber rating to go down over time.

I was just wondering if other people have had similar experiences

No, because I'm boycotting Uber -- and you just now gave me yet another reason to boycott them. Yuck!

I would only care about this if I was a driver for Uber.

I don’t care, as a Uber passenger, whether the driver thinks I’m “cool.” I just get to my destination and get out.

I thought about being a Uber driver at one time.

The irony, is the customer service you’ll get with a cab is a lot better in my experience than with Uber.

I have never ridden in Uber or driven Uber.

But, if I were riding in Uber I would want my driver to be like my hairstylist and shut up.

I'm a practical sort, if my driver was quiet and didn't kill me they'd get 5 stars. You aren't an entertainer, you're a lift. Why should an Uber driver be any different than a cab driver?

The thing is though, the driver gives you a dating out of 5 stars that contributes to your overall uber rating. Drivers can see your uber rating when they're offered your job and if your rating is below a certain level, they'll be less likely to take your job because they'll assume you might be a problem passenger.

Yeah I had one person rate me low, though everyone else gave me high ratings as a passenger. I figure it was because I wasn't that talkative that day, feeling anxious and being awkward. Oh well. I prefer not to talk during my rides, I just play with my phone or look out the window. I prefer Uber still over cabs anyday.

Like 8 out of 10 cab drivers here drive like maniacs. They make unnecessary last second lane changes, speed, peel out at every green light(regardless of the road conditions), blow through stop signs, and drive while they talk on their phones. OMG I even had one cab driver try to show me his photo album on his iPhone as he was driving! He was f*****g scrolling through his image gallery while driving. I have had another very nearly rear end another car on the freeway because he was playing with his phone while driving. I've had one cab driver blow through 2 stop signs just on a less than 5 minute drive. Another cab driver was stoned out of his mind.

One cab driver didn't want to wait for a red light so he illegally cut through a parking lot then thought he had the right of way over other cars turning left into the parking lot as he was coming out(he didn't have the right of way) then he pulled out into the middle of the road blocking both lanes of traffic, all because this s**t didn't want to wait at a red light. They are f*****g nuts. Many cab driver's Crown Victorias are like on their last breath too, and shouldn't even be on the road. With Uber its mostly brand new cars which their drivers actually keep clean. Give me Uber anyday.

I'm probably Uber's most valued customer because I used it exclusively for four years, after my stroke. I'm polite and friendly when I get in the car, but unless they start talking about something very interesting (e.g., NOT the weather), I'm usually quiet during the ride. I thank them for offering water or gum etc., but seldom take any. After the drive I always say "Thanks again! Drive carefully!", and somehow I have a five star rating. I doubt that Uber drivers really want to make small talk any more than we do. Maybe they like my dog, or they feel compassion (I used to have a walker or cane as well), but I seldom take my cane now.
