Anyone here think they may have been misdiagnosed?

I'm talking about aspergers mainly.

No.

On the contrary. Went for decades without being diagnosed with aspergers. Was sent to shrinks who were useless. When I finally got the diagnosis recently in middle age it pretty much fits. and it explains a lot. And I only wish I had been diagnosed with it fifty years earlier when I was a kid.

They, the powers that be, were doing their best to misdiagnose me with Bipolar. I mean, 'yes' I could get worked up. But, I don't spend, it takes an act of congress to get me out of the house. I sleep like a rock. But because the last few doctors that saw me thought I was euthymic, because of my speech patern and facial expressions, they were trying their best to say I was Bipolar. Stupid ****s!

I'm not misdiagnosed with Asperger's and I'm not trying to say anything ugly about Bipolar except the medicine is awful. I was on it for 1 year, all it did was make me laugh like an idiot and get really fat.

I'm Asperger's, ADHD, Addiction and I have to be super careful the types of medicine I take.

I was diagnosed quite a few years ago and it kind of fit at the time but not long before that I was also diagnosed with SPD and when I was very young with bpd. I also have ADHD and my shrink now is disagreeing with the aspergers diagnosis.

He thinks something else but I'm not willing to disclose.

I've considered co occurring diagnosis but not to the extent of thinking I've been misdiagnosed.
It's nice to see you posting again Babybird :).

Yeah they tried to give me an antipsychotic once. I knew they were wrong.

I've been pumped full of antipsychotics since my teens , none of them helped.

I'm currently on an antipsychotic which made me crazy  until it was lowered to the minimum dose, It appears to be helping now ( I haven't tried to off myself for a while )

^^glad to hear it.

It doesn't really matter to me if I was misdiagnosed but I was just curious if other people feel this way.

I always think that if you are properly diagnosed then (like NaturalPlastic) you'll be kind of satisfied and everything makes sense.

The ADHD has always made sense to me but there's always been a question mark where the aspergers is concerned.
