NeuroTypical, the new politically correct term for normal, non-autistic people. Personally, I don’t mind that “normal” implies “abnormal.” To me, abnormal just means more than one standard deviation from the mean, and applies to about a third of us in any given observation. Also, I’m really sick and tired of political correctness. I wish we could all just develop thicker skins and feel free to say what we really mean or whatever comes to mind.

Here's my glossary

The worst offenders seem to be parents doing the rounds of getting help for their kiddies at school. They assume everyone knows these acronyms as a matter of course.

autism spectrum jargon interpreter and glossary
As you will notice, the trouble with a TLA (three letter acronymn) is that it may have more than one meaning.

ABA : applied behaviour analysis
ADD : Attention Deficit Disorder?
http://forum.asperger.asn.au/topic.asp? ... hichpage=1
APD : Antisocial Personality Disorder; sociopath, bullies, abusers
APD : Auditory Processing Disorder (hear but not understand)
AS : Aspergers Syndrome and Autism Spectrum which are not the same so watch out.
ASD : Autism Spectrum Disorder?
CAD : Cassandra Affective Disorder - what NT's get by living with asperger's people http://www.faaas.org/doc.php?40,0

CBT : Cognitive Behavior Therapy (Based on changing your thinking)
DBT : Dialectic Behavior Therapy
DLA : UK support for people living with Aspergers Syndrome?
DX : Diagnosis
EAP : early autism program
EDB : Emotional Disturbed Behaviour
FX : Fragile X is the most common form of inherited intellectual disability.

HX : History - as in relevant medical history.
HFA : High Functioning Autism - some think is the same as Asperger's Syndrome
IEP : Individualized Education Program (rolls eyes - do they mean customized lessons?)

LD : Learning Disorder eg Dyslexia
MAAP : More advanced individuals with Autism, Asperger syndrome, and Pervasive developmental disorder (PDD). They have their own website mostly for parents of "MAAP". I don't know what they mean by "advanced" - more extreme like "advanced cancer" or something else?
ND'ers : ref Wrong planet "group of aspies/ND'ers", NeuroDiverse people not NeuroTypical?
NTs : not-Aspies ie non-autistic people, whom they call "neurotypicals" or "NTs". Like Muggles in Harry Potter.

NVLD : NonVerbal Learning Disability : right brain different, similar to Auditory Processing Disorder and Asperger Verbaliser
OCD : Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
OTS : Another forum? (ref from Wrong Planet)
ODD : Oppositional Defiance Disorder
PDD : Persuasive Development Disorder including Dyslexia, ADHD
PDD-NOS : Persuasive Development Disorder - Not Otherwise Specified includes Autism and Aspergers
PTSD : Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, war or car accidents can cause
RDI :
PSP : (Sony) Play Station Portable (electronic game toy)
SID : ADD and SID???
SID : Sensory Integration Disorder - related to ADD ref http://forum.asperger.asn.au/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1506
SIDS : Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
SRS : John Constantino's Autism Spectrum test or social skills test. Ref Health Report ABC Radio National Report 2006-04-26
SPD : Semantic Pragmatic Disorder - difficulty with spoken language
SPLD : Semantic Pragmatic Language Disorder - difficulty with spoken language
TS : Tourettes Syndrome
WP : Wrong Planet www.wrongplanet.net website for aspies.

And just in case you thought it was ok to be "NT"
there is this (serious)...
http://www.faaas.org/doc.php?40,0

and this (not so serious)

It's as simple as this.

What, average, people, call, normal.
