Do you find depression is malleable?
So funny how it works, years ago before I got used to being alone I felt it, like a heavy weight, but then it faded after repeated exposure per se, until it returns now after being persecuted for months, and barely anyone to help... which was the point formerly, I suppose, but being alone is a symbol, and it's really only when everything else is collapsing that it's functionally negative, and so the hole with gravity, with the only recourse trying to convince oneself that it could be worse, but that doesn't change the fact everything is worse than last year, and everything in the last six years is worse than a few months before then, and...
I am not sure if malleable, which means pliable, is the best word to use, but I think I can interpret you original question.
Depression is driven by stress. Stress is cumulative in nature. Too much stress can throw your body into distress producing mental health problems like depression.
So if you want to reduce your depression, one need to focus their attention on stressors.
One solution is to resolve the stressors. For example right now my septic system is not functioning properly. So if I don't fix it soon, I will have s**t erupting from the toilets onto my floors. So that is a stressor. So to attack this stressor, I need to develop a plan to find and fix the problem and then carry out the plan. And I need to do this across one stressor after the other until there are no more stressors. But since the world is always in flux, always changing, I know that as soon as I fix one stressor another one will take its place. So I just have to be faster.
Another solution is to learn how to vent stress energy and return the body back to a state of homeostasis. There are several approaches that other Aspies have said work quite well. One of these is Somatic Experiencing.
Being an Aspie generally means that we are under greater stress than the average NT. It is almost our middle name. Therefore generally I would recommend putting the focus on stress rather than on Aspergers, that is if you wish to make depression malleable.

That use to bother me too but then I realize something, something very important. I even coined it into a rule. It is called the 40% Rule.
In our world, newspapers are in the business of selling papers. Television networks are interested in selling air time. This mission can sometimes be at odds with telling the truth. The truth is many times distorted. Many normal people are being led around like sheep to the slaughter.
Most normal people have learned herd instinct. They travel with the herd. If their teachers teach them something they accept it without question. If a politician says, “the debate is over” or “there is a consensus”, they accept this as true in blind faith. They do this for convenience. But this normal approach also has a severe weakness.
Around 40% of what you read is outright false or a misleading narrative.
On one day, the New York Times might publish an article titled Latest research indicates coffee is bad for you and drinking it will cause you to die prematurely.
The very next day another newspaper publishes an article titled Coffee is beneficial and scientist have proven that drinking it will extend your life.
So which headline is true and which is false?
The correct answer is probably both headlines are somewhat true. However, as first stated by Paracelsus, the #1 principle in toxicology is, “The dose makes the poison.” This means that below a certain dose (probably about 4 cups a day) coffee is beneficial to drink and above that threshold it can be destructive. In general, if you drink a few cups of coffee a day or not, it doesn’t really matter in extending or curtailing your life expectancy.
Consider even drinking too much water will kill you. Severe cases of hyponatremia (drinking too much water at once) can lead to water intoxication, an illness whose symptoms include headache, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, frequent urination and mental disorientation; and this condition can prove fatal. So do you really need to put a warning label on water! Or as in California, a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge just ruled that coffee must carry a warning label! Goodbye Starbucks!
So if your perception of the world causes extreme anxiety and depression, perhaps you may want to analyze what you are being told to believe and ascertain the real truth of things, rather than just hearsay.

A recent study showed that after even mild sleep deprivation, people not only tend to shun others, they are less likely to be approached. To sleep well, I usually need to have exercised, which is itself a powerful anti-depressant. So, I start there, rather than trying to think myself happy.
