Normally my stepdaughter takes me grocery shopping on a Sunday or Monday . She had a friend staying Monday so I agreed to doing it yesterday. Yesterday however she woke with a painful and swollen red eye so shopping couldn’t be done. Today she has go to the hospital about it. She’s been told not to drive so one of her daughters is taking her. It’s obviously a priority that she finds out what’s caused it , and gets help for it , but it’s thrown me .
She’s said that my granddaughters can come with me to get any bits I need from the smaller ,local supermarket . I’m now wondering what I should get apart from lunches which I’m nearly out of . I still have milk, coffee, food in the freezer .

I'm not the world's best cook, putting it mildly . Recently I've been getting stir fry stuff, chicken in a bag or pork joint +potatoes(ready peeled in a tray) + veg(in small bags). Other than that I've been having a variety of things + pasta in sauce/microwaveable rice.

Hope your stepdaughter is ok. When she's better, sit down with her and make up a list of weekly essentials for future reference. ... and don't lose the list.

Supermarket ready meals here vary in quality. Very few of them having anything near a good amount of veg. I sometimes buy ready meals from https://www.wiltshirefarmfoods.com/ as they have a portion of veg. They're more expensive though.

Does she have arthritis in other places?
If you like spaghetti sauce a lot, I would just get jars of spaghetti sauce to put on foods or pasta.
Always have bread available. And margarine/butter. Worse come to worse, you can have toast and butter/margarine. And cheeses. and mayonnaise. And cold cuts like ham. You don't have to cook to have a ham and cheese sandwich.
