I'm not keen on wool, in general. It tends to make me feel quite itchy.

Yes, I can't use cotton balls because the feeling sets my teeth on edge, and even just thinking about it does make me shudder.

I'm so allergic to wool, I can't even be in the same room because of the little airborne fibres. Likewise with any wool product such as lanolin (a wool extract used in skin creams), with which I'm almost anaphylactic. It's amazing that my ancestors were wool combers and weavers with sheep in their homes. I can't even imagine.

Actually... Yes, but maybe for a different reason. Cotton wool in my mouth makes me shudder. I had to have some when I had a tooth out. The feeling of cotton wool grinding between my teeth...
Also I hate cardboard in my mouth. ERRRUGH!

Cotton wool does feel OERRRH! when pressed between my fingers, but feels OOOH! when teased out and stretched.

My Mum has an issue with a sore on her leg and all the creams available by the NHS have llanolin in them and she has quite a reaction to it. Also, the creams which she could have are no longer available, or then now have lanolin in them as well. It is very hard today to find a cream for her.

I used to puzzle why when I had a cold I seemed to have a month or two of blocked noses at night afterwards. After years of puzzling I found out that I have a reaction to Vick, and my Mum had given me Vick to rub on the pillow. It took a long time to work it all out.

Mountain Goat,
If she can tolerate glycerin, I recommend CeraVe Renewing SA Cream. I go through about 340grams every two weeks.

Thanks Isabella.

I find wool itchy. As a child my grandmother would knit thick wooly jumpers. Actually both grandmothers did. I had to wear them and even though I wore a vest and a shirt on top I could still feel the wool through them.

The cotton wool thing is a puzzle to me . It seems to be an instinctive thing that happens when cotton wool is mentioned . The strange thing is I have total aphantasia ie when I try to imagine images, smells ,sounds ,taste and touch I can't .

The phrase "cotton wool" makes me twitchy, because if it's cotton, it can't possibly be wool! There are no sheep frolicking anywhere growing cotton fleeces on their backs! And if it's a blend of fibers it should have a slash between the words or something.

Yes, I know that in some places all yarn is called "wool", regardless of the fiber content, but it drives me up the wall. How about a nice skein of "bamboo wool"?

And you never, never mess with sheep growing steel wool. I hear they can be dangerous!

^Teehee!

My sister can't tolerate the feel of cotton wool. Unusually, though, she can't handle the feel of paper either. I don't know how she got through school. She's an NT, too.
