I'm curious about this. In addition to me having aspergers, I have 2 older siblings(I'm the youngest)with severe autism, one of whom can only make noises. Who wants to tell me I'm not alone?

You are not alone! My younger sister has severe autism and is relatively non verbal. She lives in a residential facility and is only 15 years of age so I completely understand what you are going through. My parents are in denial that I have ASD because I’m so different from my sister and appear neurotypical in comparison to her.

Thanks, but you don't have to feel too bad for me. I've had moments in my life where I was angry about it but I've accepted it and don't really even think about it, which I think has been easier since It's just been my dad and I since I was a freshmen in HS.

And sorry your parents aren't accepting of your condition. It seems that a lot of people in general think that because you LOOK NT, it means for sure that you are. That's why I've come across a lot of people over the years, especially when I'm at work, who think I'm the dumbest person ever. Hopefully one of these days they'll come to terms with how you are.

Yeah, thank you. I cannot change my parents (mostly my dads) point of view so I have to learn to accept that.

I believe that my biological brother is Autistic also but he is not diagnosed. He also has a severe mental illness which shares the same genetic component as Autism. My biological sister has some Autistic traits but I don't know if she has enough to get a full Autism diagnosis. I am the most severely Autistic of the three of us.

I have a sister and half sister and I know for sure my sister that shares both parents has autism as she was diagnosed shortly after I was. We both also are hypermobile which is cool.

I dont have a sibling with autism, however my mother is, as is my son and also my nephew.
In my extended family, my stepdad and his son (my stepbrother) are autistic
Most of my family, my sons mother and my son all have ehler danlos syndrome which is seemingly linked to autism in some way, we all have sleep issues to varying degrees

I have mild/borderline Asperger's. I have a brother that's on the spectrum, I think my older younger sister also has some Broader Autism Phenotype characteristics but functions as a neurotypical. My other two brothers and sister are neurotypical.

In your family, it’s hit or miss. In my family, you’re getting it. Science is crazy, yo.

My brother has some autistic traits, I think, but not enough to get him a diagnosis. It seems kind of like he got all the good parts of autism and I got all the bad parts, and since it doesn't interfere with his life much, he doesn't qualify for a diagnosis, whereas I am greatly affected by it, so I do.

My siblings have traits but haven't be assessed.
I'm the most obviously autistic so I think their traits go pretty unnoticed in a lot of ways.
