I am getting new carpet on Wednesday and Thursday - I am very excited about getting new carpet as my old carpet is terrible (they were not thinking about me and my 8 cats and 7 rats when they put white carpet in this house!)
HOWEVER - I am terribly territorial - terribly, terribly, terribly, terribly territorial - and I can't just leave like I usually do when people are in my house becasue it says right in the contract that a 'responsible adult' has to be in the house at all times . . .

I am considering locking myself in my bedroom with my animals and only coming out occassionally - but this could be an all day thing . . .

Do you like movies? Maybe you could rent a lot of videos and watch them all day in your room. That way, if the noise from the carpet thing bothers you you can turn the volume up, or put in headphones.

I like to watch movies and anime when I am stressed, because it requires little brain power, but it does help keep your mind off of things.

I'm sure they won't care if you leave. They probably say that to prevent people from suing them or something. Aren't the carpet professionals responsible adults?

I like the idea about watching movies - I may just turn up my weather radio and sit under my electric blanket - I find this to be a very comforting thing and is the way I go to sleep at night . . . there is something about the weather radio . . . I just love the sound . . .

I dislike having work people in the house. My advice is to set up in a safe room where you can try to go about your normal day, and just offer them a cup of tea occasionally and be aware that they might call for your attention on something. It's never going to be the most comfortable situation, but it'll be worth it.

Yes. Carpets don't last so long these days. My carpet in my bedroom is wearing thin and it is only about 30 to 40 years old.
