I don't know what is wrong with me!
Hello everyone!
I made an account on this webpage today because I have been confused about myself for a few years now.
I have not been diagnosed with autism but I have been diagnosed with learning difficulties, and I believe that I might have autism too.
I seriously don't know what should I do, so I hope that someone here can help me with my problems.
I have made a few Asperger test's on the internet and they all said to me that I have a very good chance to have Asperger.
I have always had some autistic personality treats, for example, I have very bad social skills.
This is the worst part! I heard about a fragile x, and by some reason, I have very anxious thoughts on my head that I might have fragile x too. These thoughts about me having fragile x just don't leave my head, and I have been checking fragile x symptoms from the internet and compare them to me. I have been crying a lot in these past few months because my thoughts keep telling me that I might be ret*d.
I even made few IQ-test on the internet and they all said that my IQ is around 120.
I seriously don't wanna have fragile x.
If you are unsure, it is always best to see if you can get an evaluation from a autism specialist such as a clinical psychologist who specialises in autism spectrum disorder, ideally one that has a lot of experience.
As they are the best.
Your doctor should know who to contact or at least be able to find out.
Any advice on here can only be taken as hear say and not fact, as although a lot of the members have a diagnosis, so their own life experience. generally speaking we are not medical doctors.
Maybe that's how it works in the U.K., but, here in the U.S.A., most doctors haven't a clue about adult autism or how to find a specialist therein.
Spede, if you want us to help you figure out how to get a diagnosis, please tell us what country you're in, and, if you're in the U.S.A. or Canada, which state or province.

Sure. I understand. Sorry for my error.
I guess, there may be a national charity that represents autism in the US.
I know in the UK that National Autism Society is their National Autism charity that has a helpline,
who can then help. I think that in the UK, the NHS (which is a free health service) provides the diagnosis / evaluation service.
I do not know if the US has a similar service.

The NHS is garbage. It's a two year diagnosis process there. Not because it's more thorough.
Since this is your first post, welcome to Wrong Planet!
Taking a quick look on the Internet the following are symptoms of Fragile X.
* intellectual disabilities, ranging from mild to severe
* attention deficit and hyperactivity, especially in young children
* anxiety and unstable mood
* autistic behaviors, such as hand-flapping and not making eye contact
* sensory integration problems, such as hypersensitivity to loud noises or bright lights
* speech delay, with expressive language more severely affected than receptive language
* seizures (epilepsy) affect about 25% of people with Fragile X syndrome
So my first thought is that many of the Asperger's symptoms match fairly close with Fragile X symptoms. I do not believe that Aspies in general suffer from epileptic seizures. Also many Aspies/HFA are not necessarily intellectually disabled. You might say they suffer more from problems dealing with social interactions.
In general, girls are often less affected than boys by Fragile X. But I guess you might say the same thing for those with Aspergers.
But there is one very important difference between the two. Fragile X is a known genetic disorder and as a result this condition can be easily tested for:
The FMR1 DNA test (sometimes called the Fragile X DNA test) thus replaced chromosome testing and became the standard of care for determining the presence of Fragile X. DNA testing detects more than 99% of individuals (both males and females) with FXS, as well as Fragile X carriers.
I am by no means an expert, but I tend to think you are more likely an Aspie rather than someone with Fragile X. Call it a gut feeling. You indicated you were tested for learning difficulties but that is not the same thing as intellectual disabilities. You didn't mention seizures. The on-line test that you took indicate that you are most likely an Aspie. Also your intense focus on Fragile X seems to indicate that you may have an "obsessive compulsive disorder" (OCD) which is also somewhat common for Aspies. And then there is no mention of many physical abnormalities that affect many individuals with Fragile X. These are:
* long face, large prominent ears, flat feet
* hyperextensible joints, especially fingers
* low muscle tone

I have large ears and low muscle tone.
I think that I don't have any others than those two.
I can life on my own, on my own apartment and I don't need anybody to help me with My Daily Life.
I have Been checking The symptoms of fragile x many Times now, and I just keep checking If I have them.
I'm scared what If I have fragile x syntrome, what should I do If I have it?

I do not know what fragile x is so I can't comment about that. First thing I will say is try not to worry about anything. If you did an IQ test and got 120, you are far from being ret*d. You are brainy! An intelligent person!
Lab Tests for Fragile X
The FMR1 DNA test can be administered with two different lab procedures:
The Southern blot analysis test determines if the gene has a full mutation, its approximate size, whether the gene has been “methylated,” and if there is mosaicism of the gene (a mixture of different cell types).
The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis can determine the actual number of CGG repeats (a pattern of DNA) that are present in the Fragile X gene. For various technical reasons, PCR has not been the test of choice to diagnose a full mutation, but is quite accurate in determining premutation and normal gene repeat numbers. However, PCR is less expensive and quicker than Southern blot, and recent advances in technology have increased its ability to identify Fragile X full mutations. PCR may thus be the only test used in the near future.
Testing Cost and Reporting Time
The blood test usually ranges from $300 to $600, and results are usually available in two to four weeks.
What do test results report? The test will determine the number of CGG repeats that are present in the area of the Fragile X gene that is studied. If Southern blot is ordered, the test will also tell you the methylation pattern of the Fragile X gene. If the testing is performed on a female, two numbers will be provided—one for each X chromosome. In males, only one result will be provided, though that number might be a range, such as 200–400, because the gene often expands in an unpredictable manner.

One study looked for a relationship between the two. This is what they saw:
The results of this study indicate a higher rate of broad autism spectrum symptoms in some males with the premutation and provide evidence for an obsessive-compulsive subtype in female premutation carriers.
Source: Broad autism spectrum and obsessive-compulsive symptoms in adults with the fragile X premutation.
The answer is YES for females with fragile x syndrome.

So you don't believe that I have fragile x syntrome?
I'm not a professional and have very little information to go on so would never go so far as to say I believe one way or another but your communications combined with the internet descriptions of the condition make me lean toward the unlikely side.
