I can't see any other reason... if they're opened it's usually much worse, but even the fact there's a hole with glass in it and not bricks... and apparently decades ago they loved having these mega-windows, where about 2/3 of the wall is such... what a nightmare, I can barely go use a toilet now without a siren blasting my mind, which I think deter me to such a point I'll just use bottles (last I used them was when I was forced in shared housing, with such rooms nearer to other people's rooms, now I've been forced to the stupidest bathroom with no capability to connect a hose and for the first time ever meters-long goddamn windows, over a decade I spent in housing with no-window bathrooms (who knew I could take relieving myself in peace for granted), I'm so fed up)...

How do you cope Weirdness? Is there any part of your day that is OK for you? I go down really quickly in the city, just watching people scurry past the homeless people as they troop off to work brings me down, and seeing people with psychological problems on public transport. It sounds as if you would be much better off in the countryside too.

Move away from the city, if you can get a chance!

The Idea of windows, ironically, in the old buildings was to allow fresh air and sunlight in the age before modern lighting and air-conditioning. They would be pushed or cranked open and the place would fill up with a touch of the great outdoors.

Unfortunately, the automobile and the subwoofer reign supreme.

Get to the country and find somewhere peaceful if you can get a chance. Conversely, some cities have "traffic calming neighborhoods" that might work. I know Nashville has those--speed limits are low.

No. Windows were invented for convenience and light. Try wearing noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs when you need the toilet.
