I felt like I was going to reach a crescendo with all that then.

I'm a stranger to the police these days but during my teens and twenties I was arrested and up before the magistrate on quite a regular basis.

I believe this in part to do with my antisocial upbringing and not really caring about hurting people and steeling.

When I got diagnosed with aspergers the psychiatrist took all of this into account and it did have a bearing on my diagnosis.

I've been a member here for a while and I can't remember reading of criminality having any significance on diagnosis.

I understand that people are diagnosed very differently these days and I don't think I would fit the criteria to be honest.

Just wondering if anyone else's criminality has come into question when bei g diagnosed?

Thank you in advance.

Nope, I never heard of criminal record being of any importance for AS diagnosis.
I see it first time here.

And this is why I feel I was misdiagnosed.

Even my current psychiatrist doesn't believe my diagnosis.

I believe I have adhd (I am medicated for this) but nothing I read about aspergers is relatable to me.

Misdiagnoses do happen but maybe your social background was of importance in your individual case.

You can be a criminal and have Asperger’s.

You can be a non-criminal and have Asperger’s

I feel like some criminal activity is social in nature—cooperation between criminals sometimes is required for the “success” of a criminal endeavor.

Therefore, I believe criminality is not as prevalent in Asperger’s as it is in the general population.

Babybird!!
It's good to see your posts again.

I dont have a record so I couldn't answer that question.

I would speculate that depending on the type of offences and experience of the psychiatrist criminality could be an influence on their perception.

For a woman to be diagnosed and some time ago now, the observed behaviour must have been quite pronounced. Is autism in your family?
