Alleged causes of autism that do not cause autism.

Over the years that I've been here, I've seen a lot of alleged "causes" for autism that turned out to have been only vaguely linked in one commercial study or another.  None of these, however, have been empirically and irrefutably proven through peer-reviewed scientific studies to actually cause autism.  And while many people sincerely believe that one or more of these is THE cause for autism, we all know that mere belief proves nothing.

There are a lot of stories about vaccines causing autism and they all assume that it is something in the shot. To me, it seems far more likely that the experience of getting the vaccine shatters the tenuous trust of the aspie baby, and that's when symptoms appear.
There were also howls about the "cold mother" theory, but I inherited it genetically from my mother, and she was very cold from coping as an aspie herself.

We all know that aspergers is the result of the CIA doing hideous experiments with creating human-porpoise hybrids.

That's an actual theory Ive run across.
