There are huge waitinglists here to get a therapist. Has anyone ever tried reading books about Cognitive behavioral therapy and then tried working on things on their own?

Seems cheeper, less social and an interesting read. No negatives, right?

I just don't know with what book to start. Anyone has any suggestions?

I've noticed the market is extremely over-saturated for these sorts of books in traditional media and that there is a lot of 'trash' to filter through.
I've had some CBT books recommended to me on Audible. There seems to be a good amount of CBT related books there that are all high quality. I am trying the one by Jason M. Satterfield currently. I personally really think audio is the best media for learning as I can concentrate on comprehending/absorbing information rather than actually reading.

Audible lets you return any book for any reason for a full refund and also has a free trial that grants a free book. (No, this isn't an ad. There is a free alternative (*COUGH*audiobookbay*COUGH*))

haha, thanks!

I'm definitely going to search for that book by Jason M. Satterfield. I have to check libraries though so I hope they have it. Buying is always so expensive. A lot cheaper than actual therapy, but still

Audiobooks are soooo not working for me! It's so easy to just keep doing things while you listen and then suddenly you realise you forgot to listen. Well, that's how it goes with me. I really have to see things to take it in.

Thanks for your suggestion!!
