This evening I asked my dad if I could use my laptop for the evening (that I have to ask is its own entire tangle of illogic), and he said no, because I had been playing videogames "all afternoon." The first problem with that was that I had only been playing between 4 and 7 PM, and not continuously. The second problem was that I done the exact same thing yesterday and the day previously, and he had had no problem then. Then I managed to get my laptop by pointing out that I needed to do some homework, and he then insisted that I had to sit with it at the dining table to be monitored, instead of alone in my room where I had been sitting the previous nights with no complaints whatsover.

Welcome to WP

I have the same problem with many nts in my life. They have no consistency and I find that very tormenting. The only thing you will be able to do in this situation is to set up a strict schedule for laptop use, write it down, stick it on the wall or the refrigerator and stick with it every day. That way you always have your laptop when you are scheduled to have it.

@Rattles: Are you able to move out of your father's home and live on your own, or are you totally dependent upon your father for food, clothing, shelter, et cetera?

My father was like yours.  "Everything you have, I own" was his mantra.  He demanded that I keep my best tech gear where he could see it, and he even went so far as to give away my favorite short-wave radio to impress a friend of his.

I moved out one week after graduating high school.
