I'm not sure what exactly is happening in other countries but in the UK a 'one way' system has been implemented in most supermarkets meaning that once you have lined up to get into the shop (standing at least 6ft apart) you have to follow the arrows on the floor - trying to maintain the same kind of distance from each other once inside.

Without wishing to sound as though I am trivialising an awful situation I just wanted to say that this has turned what was an awful shopping experience into something altogether better.

The overall experience has a calmness and order to it that I like. When this is all over, if they kept this system (which obviously they won't) then I would be happy. Even if it meant standing in a line outside for a while to get in.

Anyone else?

Going into supermarkets with noisy screaming toddlers and people coming up near me with their trolleys and pushing was very anxiety triggering for me.

BUT...

I don't like the new system either. Queuing up outside the supermarket feels like queuing for a theme park ride except it's worse because you don't have friends to chat to, and standing 6 feet apart from everyone feels draining for me to have to keep consciously remembering to do if my mind wanders off, and having to follow the arrows around a certain direction of the store feels intimidating for some reason, because I'm afraid of getting told off if I forget something and have to go back. It all feels strained and unnatural.

I rather it be how it always was, for the sake of freedom and normality. But I understand where you are coming from, this organised and calm shopping system is probably heaven to some spectrumers, but not to me. I seem to find it more distressing and I'm starting to miss the noisy hustle and bustle of supermarkets.

My local place just started a one-way system. It's so unfamiliar a lot of people aren't following it (or aren't even noticing it). In a big place with long aisles, I find it actually forces me to take a longer route than I ordinarily would. They also made the two two-way entrances into one entrance and once exit; that seems to work well.

I find 90% of the aisles either useless or revolting. Would not use. Here, we seem to have store employees picking and packing orders for pickup in the busier places.

The store my family shops at has it. But the one of us who went shopping last did not notice it until they were finished and heading for the checkout stand.

We don't have that, fortunately. It'd be stressing if I forgot something and had to go back (is that even allowed?) and I might have to go through places that I need nothing from, making the time I spend in the market longer than it needs to be.

We don't have that unfortunately. I envy those of you who have. Great system!

Norway, unlike Sweden, is weathering this crisis well.

My local ShopRite has implemented this but not a lot of people are following it. It try to do my best, but if the item I want is close by at the end of the aisle and I would have to go against the arrows, I will. Rather than go all the way up an aisle where I don't need anything just to come back down the one where the item I need is.

I hear that Ikea has always had a single, serpentine aisle, so you always have to pass every product to buy one. I have never gone to check, and certainly don't intend to.

It is all a ploy to make you spend more.

Or at least it will be if it stays in place afterwards.
