I seem to remember that our cat may have sensed AS/HFA - as our cat sometimes appeared struck by even subtle responses to (the cat's) perception of playtime.

Anybody similar experiences?

If you mean some 'psychic' or 'spiritual' sense, then the answer is 'No'.

If you mean some behavioral instinct that predisposes them toward quieter, gentler people (like most people with AS/HFA seem to be), then the answer is 'Maybe'.

More study is needed.

I actually disagree. Animals have very deep spiritual connections and they communicate telepathically. So yes, they do know us sometimes even better than we know ourselves.

One of my special interests and fields of study for many years is interspecies communication. I have also worked with animals and their "owners" doing grief therapy and PTSD and anxiety therapy with abused rescue horses.

This is a field that I am actually knowledgable in. I do not have Dunning Kruger in this area.

Perhaps you would like to present your evidence

I believe that it is important to always keep an open mind and to learn. I understand that people only know and understand what they know and understand until they learn something new. Many people do not realize that all species have forms of high intelligence way beyond instinct and that they have abilities to communicate in very complex ways not only with us but with each other. In fact, modern humans are the only species that has lost the natural ability to communicate with the rest of the planet but it is not difficult to get that ability back if you learn how. Many people don't realize the complex roles, specific jobs, and inticate work that all animals and plants and geological formations and water play in keeping this planet functioning properly and all of these things communicate with each other and can communicate with us.

There are in fact, several populations of indigenous humans that actively communicate with other species even now. In fact, one of my closest and dearest friends is a tree in one of my favorite parks. I know his personal name and he encourages me regularly with many words of wisdom.

Just like there was a time when people thought the world was flat because thar is what their scientific knowledge at the time led them to believe, we know now that they were wrong because we have lived and experienced a new and more accurate knowledge.

Just like a lot nt research about Autistics is thought to be correct but we, who live the Autistic experience know for a fact that that scientific knowledge is at best incomplete and often just plain wrong. We know because we live Autism.

People have gathered scientific knowledge that has been toted as correct about us because they have obseved our behaviors and drawn conclusions for why we do what we do. But that infuriates us because we know they are wrong and we know why we do what we do and we know that if they would just communicate with us and ask us they would have accurate information. But for centuries and milenia, no one knew how to communicate with us. In fact, it was "scientific fact" that it was impossible to communicate with us because we were "incapable" of communication or of having intelligent and productive thoughts and emotions. Now, people realize how wrong they were about us. But it is not us or our abilities that have changed, it is because a few people were able to learn a new understanding that led to a more accurate knowledge of what is actually true about us and who were able to put it into practice. Otherwise we would still be thought of as non intelligent beings who have no abilities to communicate or to do anything beyond instinct.

This is the same for our understanding of all other species and energy forms. We did not create them. We have no idea of the extents of intelligences they possess or their abilities to communicate. We only know what we know about according to our limited ways of being able to learn.

As our abilities to learn increase, our knowledge and understanding of what is actually true also increases. There will always be a few who will be blessed with the abilities to understand more and deeper things. Ironically, many of those people are Autistic. So as we learn more, we know more and what might seem impossible to some eventually becomes common knowledge as our understanding increases.

I know for a fact that animals are very knowledgable about and concerned with the people in their lives. I also know that many animals are very concerned about humans as a whole and our impact on the planet. I have personally had communication with whales and learned things from them. I also know of a group of birds that had very strong convictions about one of our past presidents and his policies here in the US.

The bottom line is that we did not create other species. We barely know anything about them other than what our very limited powers of observation and understanding tell us. I don't expect everyone to believe anything just like I know that there are people who still believe that the world is fat and that nothing exists beyond the scope of their own borders. But just because that is where they are, which I completely understand and respect, does not mean that what they believe is true and that people who have greater knowledge are full of s**t.

World is flat, not world is fat

I don't know why this site will not allow me to edit my posts

Belief is not evidence.

Circular reasoning. Irrelevant.

That's called the "Gaia Hypothesis". Also irrelevant.

I could continue through your entire presentation and rip each assertion apart by simply asking for the obviously unforthcoming evidence to back it up; but I'll save myself the effort. All of your claims -- none is likely to be based on valid empirical evidence which can be replicated and verified under controlled conditions.

Have a nice day!

I know animals have always gravitated toward me, even feral ones or ones that are generally shy or outright unfriendly with new people. When I worked nights at a women’s treatment center, the resident cat would see my car come in, walk over to where I parked, then follow me inside the building.

I am not saying anything more about this. I am not attacking and criticizing what you or anybody else believes or doesn't believe nor am I demanding you to prove what you believe. At least I have the decency snd respect and courtesy to understand and state that people are at different levels of understanding snd that even people who believe things tgst we know are not true, I still respect where they are and I respect their right to believe it. I do not attack them for their experiences. You have no right to tell me that my personal experiences are not my personal experiences. This conversation is over.

Yes. That incident with the whales was incredible and intetestingly enough right after I experienced what I experienced, I found out from someone in that region that a group of whales had actually been congragating in an area where whales never go. They were there for that exact time and then they were not seen there again. And unlike Fnord's rude comment and ignorant assumption, I don't hear voices. And there is no way that I could do the work I do with the horses if this was just a bunch of BS.

OP, your topic here seems interesting to me, and you invited people to speculate on it. However unfortunately one member has tried to make it into a scientific debate, which I don't think was your intention.

As one poster has pointed out, people are entitled to their own opinion in a thread like this, and (I would add) without being harassed.

There is no rule here against expressing views which have not been empirically demonstrated. IF there were, we would hardly have any posts in this forum.

OP please continue and if further disruption to your thread occurs, please report.
