Is it just me or is anyone else picky about clothes?

I generally crave comfy used worn-down clothes that are almost shapeless. I hate that "new from the store" feeling. Although I am kinda hyposensitive in that I can wear some pretty rough fabrics, or beat up shoes, without much fuss. Most of all, the clothes have got to be easy to throw on, an afterthought. I have to be careful when I leave the house because I'll rock stuff with embarrassing holes, or wear an item inside-out, or on occasion things that are unclean. Which is odd since I take two or three scalding showers a day to stay squeaky clean...

I don't wear anything with buttons, except for jeans, or a smart jacket for a formal occasion. Otherwise, no buttons.

I don't mind what I wear otherwise exactly, but I do tend to avoid clothes with big, itchy tags that still leave an itchy area after cutting them out. Tags in trousers aren't so bad as I don't tend to feel them, but in T-shirts I cannot stand them. And some really nice clothes tend to have an uncomfortable, itchy tag attached, more so than the simple vest type.

I'm glad socks don't have tags.

When I was a wee Aspie I couldn't tie my shoelaces very well, so I always wore slip-on boots.

In Inner City Baltimore, that was quite the fashion statement.

Definitely! I tend to not want to wear certain colors because I feel uncomfortable in them. I love pink, purple, most shades of blue, some greens, and black mostly. I'm starting to like wearing gray too. I only wear leggings or other stretchy pants and shorts and I can't get myself to wear jeans or dress pants ever. If it's a more formal event, I'd rather wear a dress or a skirt than have to wear dress pants even. I don't mind dresses and skirts as long as I can have shorts or leggings underneath them. My tops are always some type of t-shirt basically, at least that kind of fabric. I don't like wearing button-down shirts or anything that doesn't stretch. I don't like long sleeved tops much. If it's cold, I will wear my windbreaker or a hoodie over my shirt when going out.

I also only ever want to wear sneakers unless I absolutely have to wear dress shoes but that's more because I have wide feet and other shoes tend to be uncomfortable because they are too narrow.

I was really picky as a teenager due to sensory issues, but not so much anymore... or maybe I just don't notice anymore because I buy my own clothes and know what I'm comfortable in.

I can't afford pickiness in clothes because variation of choice is lacking...

And I'm so sick of having more unwanted clothes. :x
I've been wishing the whole time that my mom should and must stop buying more unasked for clothes.
Because it already had gone out of hand for years now. She never, ever listened.

.. I'd prefer something thin, soft and lightweight material.
Because I can literally sense the weight and thickness of everything I wear.
Textures and color seems secondary to me.

But not too exposing or too tight, so longer shirts, sleeves and shorts all the way.

I'd be alright with sleeveless or even spaghetti, but I hate shoulder-less.
I dislike 'disconnected' or exposed-inbetween sleeves and pants or whatever it's actually called.

Definitely no tags. Because I will rip it all off, no exemptions.

High heels footwear are unwise for me to put it on.
Record says all of high heeled shoes I've worn are all broken within an hour or so.
Thicker footwear overall had to be very tough and flexible or it won't last a year.

I still don't like sock seams.

I'm picky about everything, and clothes are no exception. They must be comfortable and they must look "good" - i.e. not too ridiculous. They must have pockets that "work" - i.e. enough of them to hold everything I want them to hold, and designed so that stuff doesn't fall out. For some reason I don't like myself in light colours. No writing on shirts either, unless maybe I've thought of the message and had it printed myself, and I've never yet been able to think of anything that's so good that I'd want to "say" it to everybody. One exception was when I was in a band and we decided to wear t-shirts with the band's name on them. The correct leg length for trousers probably doesn't even exist, so I have to settle for a compromise between so long that they drag on the ground when I stand up and so short that they look half-mast and silly when I sit down.

Yep, only jeans and t-shirts and undergarments and tennis shoes for me, and a jacket/coat when it’s cold out. Nothing else unless I’m told I have to for whatever reason, and even for dressing up, I have a long skirt I wear that touches my feet and I can (and do) wear jeans under it without anyone noticing.

I like loose fitting t-shirts and long, loose fitting shorts. I also like clothes that are different shades of pea green. I also have a little pea hat that I like to wear on my head.

I love comfy, but well fitting clothes (not skin tight!). I particularly picky about t-shirts. I can't stand the texture of decals/graphics on my skin so I generally have plain t-shirts. Most of my clothes have colors of an earthy sort of tone (blue, green, brown, grey, sometimes purple :P ). My wife says I am notoriously difficult to pick out socks for.

I can't stand fake pockets and other non functional additions to clothing items.

I avoid polyester because it makes me stink and turns into microplastic pollution. Apart from that, I just buy used clothes that remind me of the ones I have. I don't know how common "my style" is - I just don't observe clothing. I can tell you a lot more about how warm things are. My favourite garment is a specialised bicycling windbreaker that I found near-new for cheap. My shoes look awful, but are still comfy and functional. I've repaired them, and various other garments myself rather than go shopping.

I hate shorts. My shirts must be short sleeved and black or gray and all the same brand and style. My pants are also all black or gray and all the same brand and style.
