I never realised there were so many.

Personally I'd rather people used the full form, particularly the first time they write it in a topic, because that would make it clearer to the uninitiated what they were talking about, and it would avoid the need for readers to go to the trouble of looking it up, thus saving time. It would be nice if there was a feature in a spellchecker that gave suggestions for the full form of the acronym when it was typed, in the same way as they do in Facebook when a user types somebody's name, to make it easier for people to put the full form into their post. They could also have a tooltip designed so that hovering the mouse pointer over an acronym would show the full form. I'm not very good with acronyms. I'm not even quite certain what that LBTG thing means, and even less sure about BAME.
