As society becomes more and more homogenized, where do you go to get away from mainstream society? I was reading a post by ToughDiamond, and it reminded me of my struggles as more and more of my interests are woven into the bastardized zeitgeist of our time. More and more of what I care about is because part of the borg. I feel like we have met our cybepunk future, but there are no cyberpunk underground missions, just offices and apartments that act as temporary autonomous zones. I am betting on AR and VR to temporarily fill the void for me, but long term I am a cultural refugee, with no place to go. Even within technology it seems like an abyss, but measurable one, so it seems like the wonder is out the window. Where are all the outliers in society? Did they get eaten up?

I seem to be very acultural. or at very least. That culture semes to have little affect on me. Unless i'm constantly interacting wtih something i'm pretty much never a part of that. even then I'm often out of the loop. AS for where I go i see no need to escaep a society I am not a part of.

Not to have the weird foreigner syndrome, but when I am outside the US is when I feel like I am part of a culture. There are some countries that feel like they are the US when I was growing up and kept the good parts and kicked out the bad and obviously have tech from 2020, but it still feels like the 90's or early 2000's. Once I get my money situation figured out I want to move to El Dorado.

I know it is, but supposedly it is located near Colombia or Venezuela, the first being my favorite country. :)

There are other mediums I like better but they have been bastardized. I want to work on DIY VR and AR.

if i had techy smarts, i'd make a custom VR environment that 1]adds hi-motion to any video source, and 2]intelligently upscales the resolution, and 3]intelligently adds 3D to any video source.

Was looking and the parts for viewing have come down, now I am curious about making a raspberry pi ar/vr. I really like the idea of an all Linux vr. Also like the idea of cybernetic art but on vr. Only tricky part would be 3d printing. Also like the hologram fans and want to screw with those.
