A developmental disorder cannot be be cured.

A developmental disorder is something that you have for the rest of your life, but that doesn't mean that you cannot improve your symptoms of developmental delay.

Autism could be caused by many different factors, it can be caused by three factors that can be genetic mutations, deficiencies or environmental factors.

There are probably many different autisms, with different causes, some mild others life destroying.

Cure is a big word that probably won’t come about for a few decades at least, & maybe only for some. In the mean time biological therapies are being developed that may reduce the negative effects of autism, one positive one is bumetanide that seems to have a positive effect on the core symptoms of autism in a % of autistics on the more severe side.

It’s in stage 3 trials at the moment & will prob be licenced as the first autistic drug within 2-3 years maybe?

Autism is measured on a scoring system, go above a score & your labelled autistic. Some therapies like Faecal Microbiota Transplantation or Calcium Leucovorin (Calcium Folinate) have reportedly reduced a child`s autism symptoms in some cases, reducing their score a few points pushing them below the threshold autism score.

Some autistic people go on life quests of self-medication using a mix of pre-existing drugs used for other conditions to try to reduce their symptoms, there’s whole websites for them.

I agree.

There are so many medical treatments, such as therapy, IEPs or drugs that may help improve or reduce symptoms of ASD, but ASD is a developmental disorder.

Developmental disorder or developmental disability means a severe, chronic disability of an individual who has a mental or physical impairment by the age of 22 which is likely to continue indefinitely and results in substantial functional limitations in three or more areas of major life activity.

This means that if you have history of developmental delay, you are considered to have it for the rest of your life, scientifically, medically and legally speaking

There are also five types of developmental delay

Five types of developmental delays:

* Milder form of developmental delays - A living being is just a few years behind from their peers, but catch up with them later in adulthood

* Mild form of developmental delay - A living being that is nine years behind from their peers, but it can take a little longer to catch up later in adulthood

* Moderate form of developmental delay - a living being that is 12 years behind from their peers, but it can take a little longer to catch up later in adulthood

* Severe form of developmental delay - a living being that is 22 years behind, but it may take 30 years to catch up

* Profound forms of developmental delay - a living being will likely not develop after age 3 at all
