I don't even know how the hell one determines whether or not he/she is in love.

You just know, its not something you have to think about.

And yes, I have. Met her at 19, love at first sight. We dated for 2 weeks and split up (loooong story) and almost hooked back up a month or two later, but never made the move to keep her. I let her get away. If I had asked her to be with me, should would have been, and I am convinced we would still be together.

I've experienced it online, but not in real life.

I am a girl and he's a guy. Through my own search into asperger's syndrome, I have seen some of the traits in him (obsessed with video games, bouncy walk, likes to be alone), but I think these are just some quirky traits in him, I'm not sure that he has AS. I met him before I even knew about AS, and we just clicked. After we clicked, we worked extremely hard to make it work and keep it working. I think in some ways we have worked harder than most couples. Love is great but it's not always easy.

Of course it's possible. There's no reason to let our particular difficuties get in the way of us having what we want in life. We may have to work a bit harder or wait a bit longer, but it IS possible and don't let anyone tell you it's not.

I have been in love twice - I married the first one (it didn't last but she had more issues than I did; AS wasn't a factor in her leaving) and I dated the other one for 5 years before sh called it quits on her. We were very good together, and she even called me her "soul mate", but little things drove her away. At the time I did not know I had AS, or had even heard of it, but we knew about my ADD, and one of the factors that made her leave was she didn't want to raise kids who were likely to have ADD. She had issues of her own too, but we were 95% compatible and got along like best friends. After reading these forums and taking the Aspie quiz, I now suspect she is an aspie, too.

I prefer real life relationships, so far its only because i love to cuddle and hug heaps.
