What type of shoes are good for a person with autism. Because I have Ugg’s and I was literally waking on the kitchen floor and just about slipped backwards but I was able to put my hands on the counter and get my balance so I didn’t fall. So I’m wondering what type of shoes are good for someone with autism so I won’t have the trouble with loosing my balance and slipping or tripping?

If you find you often lose your balance, try shoes with a low rise (or no rise) in the heel, and a non-slip outer sole.

I find that sneakers work well for me.

I wear ankle high hiking boots with vibrant soles.

Would slip on shoes like vans work?

Today, I wore my snow boots - much heavier and stiffer than my usual shoes. My legs started to ache.

Are we talking about inside your home or outside? We don't really wear shoes at home, just socks. I'm hot blooded and never have cold feet. Sometimes I wear Crocs if I'm going to stand for a long time. They are comfortable and light.

For going outside I bought everyone in the family slip-on shoes (all weather mocs) from Land's End. Everyone is too lazy with shoelaces. I buy the wide width for myself to allow for thick socks. Winter here aren't cold enough to actually need boots.

You mention Uggs. Does that mean your feet are always cold? Warm shoes tend to be cumbersome. That can't be helped. Maybe you can try some of those slipper socks with grippy bits at the bottom. I was given some but they were too warm for me.

I think whatever feels comfortable and perhaps ankle supporting?

I usually wear high top basketball shoes though mon to fri would usually be leather dress shoes, i like sneakers that look nice. except when it comes to dancing the a low cut sneaker for me is better but looks matter when you go out . unless its a functional out then i don't really care much. but this is all of course assuming you wear mostly one type of shoe like me or have seperate ones for inside and out and about which you didn't stipulate.

So am I the person who walks differently based on what is on their feet or how the floor surface feels?
Like im all good with walking over carpet for example with shoes on but without it feels really wrong, like i tend to walk on my toes more because it just feels very strange. same thing as I can never wear those plug thongs where your toe goes between them. they should be banned.
