Hello
Was wondering what you people are going to eat for Christmas!
I am vegetarian, so, I never have a stereotypical Christmas dinner / lunch.

I think I am having a filo pastry vegetable tart for my main course, with various traditional vegetables normally eaten on Xmas lunch/dinner.

I believe we have an Italian Panettone for desert too, one that has chocolate on top and orange flavoured custard on the inside.

Likely drinking lager or vodka / mixer. mmmm

What does everyone else eat? Are there any one who has a special diet or diet that is restrictive (as some ASD sufferers have).

Meat eaters here.

I am roasting a leg of lamb with vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. Home made pumpkin pie for dessert.

I am vegetarian, so I will be eating roasted vegetables and sprouts and walnuts in red wine tomato sauce.

I haven't yet established a traditional Christmas meal in my own domain, but as a longtime vegetarian I've always enjoyed the classic side dishes:

- Mashed potatoes / roasted potatoes / au gratin potatoes
- green beans baked with parmesan and garlic
- cooked carrots
- fruit salad

This year we're roasting potatoes in a casserole dish with onion, squash, and red pepper. We chop it up and toss it in a mixture of olive oil, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, parsley, rosemary, salt, and a few other spices (whatever occurs to me at the time).

I think two years ago we made our staple vegetation quinoa chili. Last year we did fancy grilled cheese sandwiches with artichokes, pesto, and havarti cheese.

Usually we go out of town to visit relatives for New Year’s, leaving the day after Christmas, so we don’t have a big dinner where there would be leftovers sitting around in the refrigerator while we were gone for a week. This is the first year I can remember that we haven’t done that, so we do get to have a special meal, and none of us are quite sure what to do

My parents are vegetarian and we're not seeing granddad on Christmas day - so as to allow the cousins to see him (they're not his bubble so can't see him on Sunday like we can).

So we're having veg. They're having nut roast but I'm happy with: usual vegetables, honeyed roasted potatoes, honeyed parsnips & Yorkshire pudding.

I never like the main thing. I feel stuffed too easy and it's pressure to eat the nut roast/turkey/whatever at the expense of the other food. I'd rather prioritise roasties, Yorkshires & parsnips.

The usual organic vegan fare, plus a bit of mint chocolate.

We usually do scrambled eggs, baked goods, fruit, and bacon for brunch. Then for afternoon/pre-dinner, we have cheese, crackers, and shrimp. Dinner is always roast beef and mashed potatoes. Dessert varies but this year, I made an apple cheesecake :)

We had a huge ham, roasted potatoes, spring rolls, stir fried vegetables, a cut up pineapple, cream puffs, Chinese donuts for dinner. I usually cook twice as many items when we had guests, but this year it's just the four of us. (You can probably tell I don't follow any particular cuisine. :D) For dessert we broke up the gingerbread house we made. We're omnivores but I can say my veggies are always delicious. They're expensive in Canada and I'm not going to waste them.

Anything that is left "unguarded" like the mince pies which have accused me of not having the guts to eat them. I'll prove them wrong and send them on a tour of them later.

Hopefully they'll give a better review than the last thing that challenged me.

My parents dropped off a care package with all the fix-ins for a turkey dinner. I had turkey dinner, though not with my family. My sister was in the same boat. My family was scattered on Christmas Day because of Covid.

I got... Plates full of bacon, hotdogs, fries.
All drown in ketchup. :jester: I ate them all.

But then, at the very day of Christmas, I didn't ate any breakfast or lunch.
Had dinner right before midnight.

And left everything else on the table; whole roasted fish, variety of breads and noodles, spring rolls, and assorted dishes of pork.

Not enough chocolates. :o
Didn't went next door or across the street where there are most of the meat and alcohol went.
