Diets to lose weight
I'm sure you'll get lots of tips. I just have one tip. Sleep a lot. Seriously if you sleep more then you have much less time to eat. Plus your mood will be more stable when enough sleep and thus have less cravings.

I went for the calorie-counting diet. Here's how I did it:-
Download a calorie-counting app, or use a notepad to work out how many calories you consume each day.
Work out your current weight and your height and use a calorie calculator online to see how many calories you need to consume each day (for example, 1,500).
Whatever you eat, check the calorie chart on the packet and add those to your daily calorie intake. Some things may not have the calories on, so you might need to either use Google for help, use kitchen scales or estimate.
Try and round each calorie intake to the highest 10 and pretend you have actually consumed it. That way you'll be tricking yourself into eating less.
You can eat whatever you want, providing you count your calorie intake and try not to go over your recommended daily limit. (But try to buy meals with less fat, or switch to less fattening things like skimmed milk instead of full fat milk). If you have a lot less than your recommended daily amount one day, you can earn those calories for a treat the next day.
Buy fruit, like grapes, because if you fancy a snack you can eat fruit and not spoil your diet. Fruit may have some calories but they're "good calories", which means they're healthy and can be burned off quicker than the calories from chocolate.
After about a week or two your body will get used to the diet and you'll crave less.
After a month or so you may be able to remember roughly which foods contain which calories and can estimate. But still continue the rounding up to the higher ten method.
If you have noticed you have lost a significant amount of weight after about 5 or 6 months of dieting, you can relax your diet a little. Keep relaxing your diet a little more each week, and you should stay the same weight (any physical activity that you do will burn calories easier). If you do start putting some of the weight back on, start counting calories again.
This worked for me. I went from 13 stone down to 10 in just 5 months of dieting this way. Hope this helps, and good luck!

Saturdays are my "Diet-Free" days; even then, I try not to over-indulge.
"Eat Less; Exercise More" works. My diet is high-fiber, high-protein, low-fat, and low-carbs -- about 2000 calories per day or less. 5 miles per day on the treadmill, too. Some days I walk, some days I jog, and sometimes I can even work up to a good run.
Find a diet/exercise regimen that works for you and stick with it.

Thanks to everyone for their advice, some good advice here I feel.
Sure re calorie counting Joe90! I recently started a spreadsheet (as I am good with Spreadsheets) and am keeping track of how many calories I consume.
Actually, I was a little shocked when i input how much calories there were in things like bread and butter.
I love bread and butter and I could easily eat an entire loaf of fresh bread, especially with butter or in sandwitches.
How shocked I was when I calculated that 6 pieces of wholemeal bread with butter, was around 1400 calories!! !
What? and that's just really a snack!! !
I also was shocked to find out that one pot noodle is 447 calories.
So not going to eat any of those now, the last one I ate before i looked at the calories! doh!! !
I also appreciate the advice with regards to water (thanks Isabella), I have started to drink soda water, as i find it easier.
Although i no its not so good for your teeth due to the gas, it is 0 calories.
Which i note will be a lot better than what i was drinking before.
Last year I kind of had a lot of disruption in my routine and places to live and ended up drinking 4 days a week, including some days drinking heavily.
So I have stopped drinking alcohol since the 3rd of Jan, and having had even one beer since!
(i am not an alcoholic, more of a binge drinker).
Been walking every day too, 5 miles (thanks Fnord). I am lucky in that I live on a small island, which has a lot of natural beauty,
so am able to walk for 5 miles on the beach, nice golden sand beaches, blue sea, fairly pretty landscape.
The walks are working as relaxation therapy as well as exercise, as i can get away from people and their noise, and their generally stress.
Nice.
Thanks for all your advice, but of course, anyone has any more, Please go ahead.
Cheers
I lost around 40 pounds a few years ago, and have been trying to lose weight again recently (I gained some of it back because of stress, drinking, and COVID lockdowns ). I lost weight by calorie counting, drinking only water and tea/coffee, and cutting carbs (I did that because of the appetite lowering aspect of it, but it's not really necessary at all and just makes it harder for a lot of people). I also exercised every other day and stretched everyday, which helps you maintain muscle (which is good for your metabolism and overall health). It was kind of hard at first but after awhile I got used to it, and honestly I felt a lot better dieting than I do now.
